1.) How many proteins at a minimum should be included in a ferrets diet? yes three 2.) Name 3 organs. Liver and kidney is correct but hearts are actually a muscle meat but for dietary purposes we place it in it's own category. Spleen, pancreas, brain, testiclesand green tripe are examples of other organs 3.) If you ran out of heart what can you use in an emergency as a substitute? we feed heart for it's taurine content, if you run out of heart tongue and lung are high in taurine also. There is also a powdered form available

Ok, sounds good. Was this your last week of school? Here is another quiz for you; 1) how many heart meals should be in a weekly meal plan on the frankenprey diet? 2) what is included in an organ meal? 3) approximately how long does it take for a ferret to digest it's food?

Ok, sounds good. Was this your last week of school? Here is another quiz for you; 1) how many heart meals should be in a weekly meal plan on the frankenprey diet? 21.5 heart meals a week in a full frankenprey diet Here is an example of what a weeks menu should look like; Mon am bone in Mon pm hearts Tues am bone in Tues pm organs Weds am bone in Weds pm muscle Thurs am bone in Thurs pm heart and organ Fri am bone in Fri pm muscle Sat am bone in Sat pm bone in Sun am muscle Sun pm bone in
2) what is included in an organ meal? liver + other organYes 3) approximately how long does it take for a ferret to digest it's food? 1 hourIt takes about 4 hours for a meal to digest in ferrets. Here is the break down of how long each stage is good for; Raw soupie is good for 6-8 hours Muscle meats up to 12 hours Bone In meats up to 24 hours Whole prey is good for 48 hours. This is somewhat dependent on room temperature also, if it is extremely hot the. It may not last that long and if it is on the cooler side it may last longer. Ferrets in general have better sense of smell and will not eat food if it has gone bad. Trust your nose though and if it smells rancid to you go ahead and toss it.

The next step is bones. Quail and Cornish game hen are the easiest to start with. Chicken wings are a good start also but I would like to see some other proteins besides chicken in their diet. While we work on getting them on bones we should include a beef or lamb meal once a week also to get their red meat in. You are all done with school now?
