I made this using one of the cuddle cup patterns I found a link to on this site, but instead of filling it with batting I used rice! The idea is that you can put it in the freezer to use as cold bed or you can spritz with water and microwave for about 2 minutes depending on your microwave and use it as a warmer. It isn't ferret tested yet since a) I don't have a ferret...yet and b) it's temperate here right now. I plan on giving it to my bro so he can use it with his ferrets and see how they like it, but what do you guys think of the general concept? The next one I make probably won't have the opening that this one has. I followed the instructions on the link but it appears the numbers given in the pattern weren't correct, as I suspected before I made it. Anyhow, good idea, bad idea, do you think ferrets would be likely to use it? Comments?

It's a cuddle cup, so def. ferrets will use it ;D And for an ill fuzz, having something you can warm up would help, as the cold for the heat. I think it's a good idea. You'd likely want a rather tough outer cover(for digging), so it can be removed and washed.

It looks rather awesome. As long as you filled it with long grain rice you've probably got a comfy little sleepy cup. My guys love them ciao

yep long grain. Didn't think of an outer cover tho...hmmmm. This is just made with regular cotton fabric (fat quarters for quilting?) cuz I know that is microwave/freezer safe.

I like the rice idea, but yeah you'll probs want like a denim durability type fabric on the outside.

And I mentioned washable, because of the oils that get onto the bedding.

Thats awesome!! I second the washable factor. Just watch zippers as some fuzz can unzip zippers. (neka!) lol

And other fuzz eat velcro, so that is a no-no (in my house) lol
I love the idea though!

A good idea would be snaps. You can buy a press and the metal snaps on Ebay.
