Since last year I've been feeding my ferrets on a minced meat and bone bone diet. I am starting to phase out the kibble and have them almost completely raw fed, so now they get a raw meal twice a day which they love. The company I use have different flavours of meat depending upon what's available and what's been sold. They are a small company catering barf to cats and dogs. There's nothing added just meat, fish and bone. I've tried my ferrets on several of their different flavours and as suggested here on the forum have been adding more heart to their diet which they do seem to like - chicken hearts and ox heart minced. They do 'chicken and trout/salmon' and 'chicken and cod' which my ferrets enjoy . My question is how often do you think they should get fish a week. Should it just be a occasional meal or can it be part of their general rotation of flavours. Is it nutritionally good for them in comparison to say, 'chicken and rabbit, or chicken and ox heart'?

As for the nutritional makeup, you would have to link the product for us The extra heart is always good- they can't overdose on taurine. As for fish, I give it as part of a regular rotation, so they get it once or twice a week. But since I do the more exotic meats(kangaroo, etc) as the mince I give things like whole herring just chopped up. The omega 3's and 6's are good for them

Thanks for the reply. I guess what you're saying is as part of their overall diet it's good for them and the key is to rotate the types of food they're getting and not to be too reliant on one type.
