Please remember that serving a raw egg (the whole egg) can be fed once weekly as a dietary supplement to prevent hairballs (bezoars). The term Bezoar is referred in creatures like ferrets who cannot vomit up the hair and must pass the mass. If it remains in the stomach it continues to grow until it becomes a blockage. Unfortunately, before that time it often results in anorexia and IBD type symptoms. When used as a dietary supplement it can be used no more than 3x weekly as alopecia will be the result. Technically, this amount should only be used for a couple of weeks during the bulk of a ferret's shed A cooked egg may be given to provide stimulation (play) but remember it's still part of the diet and should be included in the total amount your ferret eats during the day ciao

It's really simple, feeding too many eggs unbalances the diet and the initial symptoms are hair loss. Unfortunately, it was something I found out years ago and science has backed it up since ciao

Is it OK if a group of ferrets shares an egg multiple times per week? I usually mix in an egg with 4 of my 4 ferrets' shared meals. They all usually drink up the egg immediately, but it's possible they don't all consume the same amount of it. I haven't noticed any problems with their fur, activity, etc. but I found offering egg mix-ins (trying to get them to like duck neck) much more than this would cause extra stinky stool. They still don't like duck neck. I'm probably just going to have to mix it in with bone in chicken or turkey.
