I am unable to post a reply on the poop chart thread for some reason. This is Cookie's poop today. It looks similar to the "parasites" picture on the poop chart, but I don't know. What do you think? She has been eating mostly raw chicken meat organ & bones the past few days, no kibble or anything else.

Those seedy looking poops are most likely due to undigested fats from the chicken. That's common and it does look like the parasite poops which scare Ferrents.

It could be from the raw food but I'd get her some parasite treatment just to be on the safe side.

These look completely normal to me. I had the green seedy poop scare as well. It happens with new proteins and a start of a switch. It will go away as they adjust to the new food.

It also looks similar to the pic that shows regular raw diet with bone picture. So its really close. Keeping an eye on her. Had needed to schedule vet visit for checkup and vaccines anyways

Mine never had this poop issue when they were transitioning to raw and whole prey, maybe it's because over here in the UK, most kits are weaned onto raw first and then kibble just before they leave.

I don't think it's necessary as @machan explained but anytime you're really worried then a vet visit will help to reassure you.

It depends on the breeder. I got mine from a BYB when they were kits and they were brought up on cheap cat kibble and a few scraps of meat here and there. So quite unbalanced which explains why I had pretty funky poops.

All 3 of mine had some amazing technicolor poops during the transition. In combination with interesting textures too. I'd keep an eye on it as well since it's worrisome, but it could be so many things that aren't parasites it's worth a watch-and-wait. Individual ferrets bacterial load, reaction to chicken itself (common), transition randomness, etc. If your ferret is still eating and playing normally vigilance may be all that's required. Of course, vets do bring peace of mind, so there's no shame in that. One thing to consider though is if the vet doesn't approve of raw feeding or know much about it, they may be quick to bandwagon kibble. Know your goal and stick to the outcome you want before going in!

That is a normal undigested skin poop. Nothing weird with those pics. I've seen this occur in ferrets who've been on raw for considerable time but do not digest chicken skin very well. Parasites are very rare and in most cases over treated. If you're really concerned, take a sample in to the vet....never, ever treat for parasites without testing first. Stuffing that level of toxin into your ferret it entirely unnecessary and should only be done when treating a specific parasite. ciao

Update, the poops aren't looking like this today. I think it was just her gut transitioning to raw. After breakfast today she was running around being crazy playful ferret and she threw up a little. But it just looked like undigested chicken breakfast and I think it was due to over-stimulation right after breakfast. She has been fine the rest of the day. (This was several hours ago)

Glad to hear she is back to normal. And I agree- NEVER treat for intestinal parasites without having the stools tested first. Saves you cash, and saves your ferret potential problems.
