My fuzzbutts are fed raw already and I have been searching to see if anyone has actually switched from frankenprey to whole prey? How difficult would this task be? They are both about 10 months old. I started looking at meats on Hare today and it got me thinking that whole prey might be the way to go but wasn't sure if it would be too difficult to switch over. It's just a thought for right now but I am considering.

Some take to it better than others. There are a number of different methods to work it. The problem is feeding just prey is expensive. You still have to find a minimum of 3 protein sources but you don't have to worry about balancing as prey comes balanced. Remember too, that adult prey is what is required to chicks, and baby animals are treats not meals ciao

When I first started feeding a natural diet, I started off with raw like you have and then switched them over to a whole prey diet. I started by giving them small amounts of whole prey to their raw meal like mice, day old chicks and pigeon wings with the feathers still on, they took a while to start eating the chicks but they did get there. When they were eating all the starting whole prey that I was feeding them with their raw food then I started introducing juvenile chicks, whole pigeons and rabbit feet as well, which they took a liking to When they were eating those properly then I started giving whole rabbits and small fish which they only ate the middle of the fish at first and then after a couple of weeks they were loving the fish and whole rabbits as well as what I was previously giving them too. I then I removed the raw and started to introduce pheasant into their diet which they loved straight away so for a few weeks they were on a diet of rabbits, mice, chicks, pigeons, pheasants and fish. The whole process was quite easy and took about 4 and 1/2 months, they were on a whole prey diet for a few months and then I changed their diet to a mixture of whole prey and raw so they had more variety because if they were in the wild, they wouldn't eat the same things all the time. I would like to get them eating some guinea pigs and rats instead mice soon though and I've altered Saturday's menu which is the day they have fish, I've yellowfin fillet to whole mackerel and they seem to prefer the makerel to yellowfin Hopefully this helps and good luck with switching them to whole prey

So whole prey is balanced by its self. I saw people gutting whole prey. When you gut it is it still balanced? Are poops different with a whole prey?

If you can get all the different types of whole prey with the guts still in then yes, it'll be a balanced diet and poops are different with whole prey, you'll find fur and feather in their poop.
