Des implants are currently on back order due to high demand and short supply. Just a heads up for anyone trying to order it.
Also - does anyone know the current status? (like when they expect to be caught up etc?) I know my vet said we are at the top of their list, so that is good because Koda needs it...

i've been trying to get the implants for a few months now and was told the same thing- one of my vets yesterday said that they've been trying to get them at the office just to have in hand and they haven't been able to. argh!

The problem that is occurring is that some of the big clinics and ferret vets are ordering huge numbers to get the discount. Rather than split orders they're filling those orders and those vets that order fewer are having to get their orders with what is left over. If you can find a vet that actually has the product in stock you can get your vet to order or get an implant from the vets over here. I had one spare that I had bought and offered it to one of my students who needed one for her ferret. It turned out she managed to get a des implant from a vet closer . I've since used it for one of my little ones but sharing these implants is one way to get them to our little ones who need them. You can also use lupron as a temp solution as well ciao

I'd gather that they are going to be ramping up production on them?

The des implant is typically used for treating adrenal disease. However, it can also be used to chemically neuter/spay intact ferrets.

Keep your fingers crossed, according to my vet backorders may continue to accumulate do to corporate take over. She says it happens frequently in the pharmaceuticals industry and it usually screws up ordering for a couple of months while the internal restructuring takes affect. Hopefully, it won't screw up our orders (I've got 4 on order for July) but I thought you should be updated. ciao
