So I've combined two three story ferret nations. We've zip tied them together and all that's great! However, there's a gap between the floor trays....I don't know what to do to remedy it! I know there are people on this site who have combined cages, if anyone has any insight on what I can do to remedy these gaps so my fuzzies don't get hurt, please share! Thanks so much in advance!!

You had to zip tie them together? I thought the cages just connected some how, since you can buy add ons. Ferret nation cages seem to have a lot of flaws.( or maybe it's just mine? ) I kind of dislike the 181 single unit that we have. The top shelf is crooked, the top of the cage is never 100 percent secure and putting it together was h*ll since none of the holes matched up.

I've had no issues with it thus far. The ramps could be better placed in my opinion. We did have some issues with pieces fitting together during assembly, we used a rubber mallet and with a little elbow muscle we got everything together! We just recently attached two, three story cages, the zip ties were used to hold the two cages together...it's a work in progress, but here's a picture.

Oh wow! You have a ferret mansion!! I think mine just might be defective. I would love to add on to Mermans cage, but he's a wuss and won't use the ramp that is provided. He gets up there sometimes though, without the ramp....somehow. ( We took the ramp out since it's useless to him.)

Wonder if a strip of the tougher floor linoleum would work---- running the whole length of the cage floor or those self adhesive floor squares? (then setting the pans on top of that)
I would worry about the gap. My baby got her foot caught in the 142 FN shelf. I heard her screaming, and I had to prise the plastic up to get her foot out from under it. Glad I was home at the time.
Other than that, a nice set up.

Mine is bolted and screwed together. No zip ties here. actually it is a 182 connected to a 142. I have a 2nd cage that is 2 182 bolted together the same way except I used some 1 x 1 square steel stock. I will post pictures of the 2 182 cages in a little bit for the 142 + 182 cages I welded 2 square bars together and welded 2 studs under it to attach the 2 halves together. here are some pictures of the 142 + 182

Thanks for all the input guys! We ended up cutting wood pieces the size of the gaps. I then made fleece sleeves for them so the babies can't get to the wood. This should work for now! We will see if it works!

Lol. I am not handy with tools!

no worries your way works.
Just hope they don't soak the wood and you have to remake them. Although should not be too much work to remake them .
I just did not trust zip ties to hold the cage together. There are plenty of people on here that have not had any issues using zip ties. I wanted a positive bolt together connection.
