no worries your way works. Just hope they don't soak the wood and you have to remake them. Although should not be too much work to remake them . I just did not trust zip ties to hold the cage together. There are plenty of people on here that have not had any issues using zip ties. I wanted a positive bolt together connection. I can understand that. I'd feel better if it was sturdier as well. But, my power tool skills are pretty much non existent. Lol. As far as them soaking it, it won't likely be an issue, my group is pretty well litter trained with very few accidents...when accident do occur, it's usually directly in front of their litter box! They get so close! Lol

I have a thin (non-rubber) doormat laid across the gap, beneath the pan and the tub litter box. I picked up a couple mats on clearance after Halloween, since even with a box that size Hocus's old man mentality is often "eh, here's close enough."
