It has been 5 weeks, going on 6 weeks since I brought Harleigh & Quinn home from their living nightmare. After much deliberation, my husband & I decided, with heavy hearts, to stick to our initial plan - finding Harleigh & Quinn their forever home. I wish, I wish I wish
However, we had a lot to consider. School is just around the corner (with a heavy course load!), and in August we will be moving. Prior to rescuing HQ, we had applied to adopt a third dog & recently we got approved. And though I do not condone getting rid of one pet, to get another (not the case here). You're probably wondering if you can't have 5 ferrets, how can you have 3 dogs?! I work at a dog daycare, so I can take them with me, my dogs can sleep in my bed, less predisposed to $$$ health problems... For my lifestyle a dog is much easier then ferrets.
So, of course, I thought I would open the floor up to any local HFF members first. I live in Barrie, Ontario. My husband & I are willing to drive 2-3 hours, if someone from further away was interested.
Harleigh - female; 3-5 y/o (adrenal; DES implant Nov 23)
Quinn - female; 3-5 y/o (blind & deaf)
Harleigh & Quinn are sweet as can be! Quinn is learning how to play, and is discovering the fantastic world of steal & stash! Quinn is a little busy body when she is out, you'd never know she was blind & dead - except when she runs into things. She doesn't startle when touched/picked up. Harleigh's energy is increasing everyday, and loves to explore new rooms before laying down for a good cuddle session.
They are excellent to groom! No need to scruff for nails, just hold 'em close & they will sit still. Easiest ferrets I've ever bathed, they were more then content to float in the water.
Amazing eaters. So far they eat chicken, beef, pork, duck, turkey, salmon, lamb, rabbit, pheasant, and elk. They are not fans of bison or boar, but I don't foresee that being a problem .
They are up to great weights, healthy appetite, fur growing in quickly. Harleigh is adrenal, and on November 23rd she got her implant, already her fur is growing back, and itching less. Quinn is blind & deaf, but like I said, she is no worse for wear because of it.
We are working on the litterbox, because they are used to living in their own waste, they aren't picky about where they potty. We have gotten them to use pee pads consistently, and are working on getting them to go in the litter box.
Adoption fee: $150 for the pair (they cannot be split up)
I have adoption forms for anyone interested. They have been through a lot, and I want to make sure they go to a great, forever home. Anyone who is interested PM me
