I'm guessing that the blood is fresh (red) vs black, tarry or like coffee grounds? The fresh blood is scary and would be something I would be worried about but the coffee grounds and tarry stools would concern me more. His stools will be smelly, it's the ghastly moist food that he's eating, it actually may also contribute to the muccousy stools too. The blood? Hopefully, it's just blood from having loose stools (rather like hemorrhoids) Fingers are crossed and a healing candle is lit. ciao

This boy is the reason for my hair dying appointment next week! He definately owns my heart. He's doing better. Eating on his own. Stools are better, browner, and most are formed. no more blood! thank goddess! His skin colour still off, though i 'think' a bit better, it's hard to say. Going to start giving him some soupies later today. Hoping he's not going to be on this critical care canned food too long.

So Neka's eating fine... he's going through about 6ozs a day of the canned ad plus soup. Now my last batch of soup is not the mushiest as the blender died so there are still chunks of skin in it. I've been picking those out so he's got complete mush still. His energy is up around a ....6/7... norm for him out of 10 is a 13! lol stools are the worse part of this.... the canned AD comes out looking almost the same and smelling soooo bad, I can't see how he gets any nutrients out of it. His colour is slightly better, still a tad yellow, but no brown. The vet wants to slowly increase the texture he's eating... she suggested ground kibble on the canned AD as the next step. THis really seems like 100 steps back as I've never given the boy kibble from day one! Any thoughts or suggestions?? I have to talk to the vet again, now that he's eating again to see how long till se progress to the next step. If I dont respond right away it's cause I'm working today but i'll check back later

I'd start ground raw in with the a/d, rather than kibble. Would do a lot more for him. Also, it took Lucrezia a few months before she was back to having a lot of energy again. And she never did redevelop the abandon she'd had prior to the blockage. It's almost like she "grew up" overnight

I would do as Sherry suggests. Your vet isn't comfortable with raw. She supports it but she's not comfortable. She's suggested kibble to me too ciao

lol I got the vet to ok slowly adding ground meats to the AD food if I blend them even further! So my plan is to make a soup out of some ground meats, that way i can add bone meal and taurine etc to be sure he's getting everything. It's going to take a while but I'll be glad to be rid of the canned stuff the stool stench is horrific! thx ladies
