One of mine had coccidia, I know it took a lot out of the poor guy. That sucks that the assistant gave some bad advice. You liked the actual vet though right? It can be tough finding a good vet and a lot of them will tell you not to feed raw

Yeah, they definitely show that there's something wrong. :/ The vet seemed good, no problems with the raw diet, even made the comment (actually in front of the assistant, too) that raw meat is the best for them and I shouldn't feed anything else especially when they're recovering. She was up front and got right into it, rechecked anything the assistant did, suggested tests based on symptoms and explained why, told me their costs and asked if I wanted to try it. It was pretty nice.
Hah. Another thing the assistant said was that forums online don't really help and they usually steer people away from the vet. When I said that HFF advocates vetting quite strongly, she said it's just easier to come in and let the vet decide. Oh well. The vet is good, so I think I'll stick with them.
