It seems odd to me that it's the heart they're having trouble with. Most ferrets seem to like heart and hate the organs, lol. The heart/organ soup is a great idea. Serving organs as soup is a very common solution for ferrets who won't eat their organs any other way.
Edit: I'm sorry... I have typed and retyped this post about organ soup and it's not making any sense. The popping balloons on the skin are making my eyes spin, which in turn is making my brain malfunction. I will re-type when I get home and can use my ipad.

My wifi quit working at home yesterday, so here I am on a PC again trying to think with balloons popping all around me, lol. I've actually covered the edges of the screen with brown paper so hopefully I'll be able to be coherent today!
I was trying to explain about organ soup. A lot of ferrets object to organs, so they get their organs in soup form. For the ones who won't eat straight organ soup (it's very rich), their ferrents prepare enough organ soup for a week and then serve a little with each meal so that, by the end of the week, they've had their full amount of organ. The trick with this is to know how much total food they eat per week so we can get the amount of organ soup correct. And then you have to adjust the amount of soup by season depending on their appetites. And you have to make sure that each ferret eats their soup with their other food. It's a little work which is why we try to get them to eat their organs and heart whole, but if they just won't, this plan can work. It's not ideal and I'd rather not resort to it unless absolutely necessary. I'd rather just do organ/heart soups on their organ/heart days.
The menu calls for 1.5 meals of organ and 1.5 meals of heart. That's a total of 3 meals. You can do all 3 meals of organ/heart soup. BUT since they like it and it's easy to eat, they may overindulge on those days and that would be bad. Be careful that they don't get too much organ.

We will try the organ soup on just the organ meal times. Gomez and Jaz both do ok with the liver and tongue. But heart is another story. SMH!!! Lol We tried smelt yesterday and it was a great hit.... second time around. First time they didn't do so well. This time plates were licked clean!! And it was bone in so that was awesome! Gomez is actually doing really great eating on his own while Jax is srruggling. Not really sure what is his issue but his weight is not fluctuating too much so trying not panic. I know it's weird that they don't like the heart as much... we have minced it really small and put a little salmon oil on it. NOTHING seems to work though. We are hoping to get to China Town(Boston)in March to try and get more types of protein. Just have to wait until snow storms are not an issue. Lol We will stock up for the winter next fall.

So what proteins are they eating now? Can you just list them here? Not in menu form, I just want to know the proteins not when or how much or whatever.
How are jax's poops? Any better yet? I have not forgotten about that info on what to expect from the poop culture. I just haven't found it yet. I'm going to have to ask someone where it is. When will you get the results?

They are getting the following : Beef Turkey Cornish Game Hen Venison Tongue Lamb Pork Veal Kidneys Chicken Wing tips for bone - in (turkey & chicken )
Jax's poops are a little bit better. He is still having some undigested food in it but not such bad diarrhea. Which is great- feel soo bad for him when he's having a bout of the diarrhea. I think that he is bad about not chewing all his food! He sometimes chews a small piece off and then seems to just swallow. Crazy boy!!
Dr. Dyer said it should be about 2 weeks ....so I would say end of next week we should hear from them about the results. Fingers crossed!!!

Do Gomez and Jax have access to a computer during the day while you're at work? Because I swear they are communicating with my brats!! My crew is refusing to eat hearts! :pullhair: They didn't eat them yesterday morning, so they got them again last night. They didn't eat them so they got them again this morning. And they gave me this look and headed off to bed. So they've now skipped 2 meals and are working on skipping the third... (headwall)
