Aaandd it's still not there. Crap. Let's try again but I forget what I posted the first time. Monday am: edible bone in meat chicken neck Monday pm: edible bone in meat (or muscle) beef sirloin<--- This is a muscle meat, not bone inTuesday am: edible bone in meat chicken wing Tuesday pm: muscle meat chicken breast Wednesday am: edible bone in meat chicken thigh Wednesday pm: heart chicken Thursday am: edible bone in meat chicken neck Thursday pm: edible bone in meat (or muscle) lamb shoulder<--- This is a muscle meat, not bone inFriday am: edible bone in meat lamb shoulder<--- This is a muscle meat, not bone inFriday pm: ½ heart + ¼ liver + ¼ other organ chicken hearts gizzards liver<--- Gizzard is a muscle meat, not "other" organSaturday am: edible bone in meat chicken wing Saturday pm: muscle meat chicken breast Sunday am: edible bone in meat chicken thigh Sunday pm: ½ liver + ½ other organ veal liver gizzards<--- Gizzard is a muscle meat, not "other" organShe's been eating everything in pretty big chinks, around an inch square although not too pleased with it all On a side note, today I went to a pet expo and got to see some verry fat fuzzies :3 You two have come a LONG way And Rosie is doing SO well! We do need to do some tweaking with the menu though. There are only 3 heavier bone in meals(2 wings, 1 neck), and 2 light bone in meals(2 thighs). Changes needed are 1) 2-4 more bone in meals. 2)An organ such as kidney, brain, etc instead of gizzard. 3)More variety and much less chicken(there are 9 meals of chicken ) Heart and liver amounts are fine Try adding in some pork and turkey as good muscle meat basics instead of the chicken muscle like breast. Beef heart, pork heart, and lamb heart are great as well as a substition for chicken heart. And the pork and lamb bring another protein in. If you can get rabbit, the ribs, spine, and front legs are very good bone. Turkey necks are another. I am sure your mum wouldn't like you feeding thawed mice, but they are also a great addition.

Okay. I had thought that if there is bone in it, it is bone-in. Thanks for correcting me. My mom is shopping today so I will see what's in the freezer when I get home, lol. I have a snake, so mice are no biggie Do I skin them, or...?

Nope. Just feed them whole You may have to get her used to them though. Try cutting one open and fill it with a favourite oil. And bone in actually means consumable bone And many have made that mistake, so no problem

I haven't found a favorite oil She hates the salmon with a passion. I still don't know what to mix in with her meds so they taste better.

Mine hated the salmon oil at first as well. Keep dabbing her nose with it, and she will get used to it

So today she ate lamb shoulder chop and beef liver, tomorrow my mom is getting more stuff, we're looking for pig hearts and turkey necks.
I tried the salmon oil today and Codo magically decided it was great. Go figure.

She is doing SO well, as are you You almost have her there, now to just get her diet balanced properly. While we are waiting, let's test your raw feeding knowledge 1) List 2 good sources of taurine. 2) List 3 sources of edible bone. 3) What counts as a "different protein source?" 4) List 3 organs aside from liver. 5) What is a healthy diet item that can be used for hairballs, and his often should you give it?

Oh no, a test!! I've been trying to read around all the different documents you have, but there is a lot! 1) Hearts, and brains I think (ew) 2) Chicken necks, she is getting to like those, rabbit spines, legs (rabbit is pretty expensive here unfortunately). I'm pretty sure a mouse would count too. Once she gets over her hissy fit about less chicken I'll try one. 3) A different animal 4) Kidney, lungs, and those brains of course, yum yum.. 5) Eggs once a week I know, but I think some people use pumpkin too. Codo doesn't go for the eggs as much after I tried to stick it in her meds lol. And she doesn't like the salmon oil in there, but she likes it alone. She's so silly. Did I pass?

All but for the pumpkin, and that we can excuse as "out of date" info It was used at one time, but has since been found to also contribute to insulinoma for those who are genetically prone to the disease. It is only used for emergency situations like a blockage now

Yay I didn't really like the idea of pumpkin too much, I mean, when do you see a ferret go around eating pumpkins? Lol. Codo is doing well, slowly getting used to the new tastes. She will eat a little of the lamb and pig heart. She really likes chicken livers, I see her slurp them up

How about edible bone? That one is also really important.

She is slowly learning that bone is something she can eat She does really well with the chicken necks now, we cannot get rabbit unfortunately without buying a whole one which would go to waste, and that is $30. Turkey necks we are still looking for but we do get frozen feeder rats and mice. I can look at ordering quail too if that would be good for her.

Forget the rabbit then, other than as another protein. But the quail is an excellent alternate bone, as well as another protein So- right now the only bone she is actually consuming is neck? Have you tried her with wings yet? Or cornish hen?
