Link is refusing food so I had to syringe feed him turkey baby food. His energy level is slim to none. He wants to sleep and not be bothered. If I move him he let's a whimper out and either throws up or tries to throw up. I'm worried about him, as I have no idea how to care for a sick ferret. (for those who aren't on facebook, link was seen at the vet where he had a normal temp..we took blood for a full blood panel and should receive results with in a week. He tested positive for coccidia too.)

Did you mention he has insulinoma too? What was his BG? I'm assuming he is getting antibiotics - what meds is he on?

I think he may have it but I had to send out a blood panel. We chose to do the general health instead of just the one for insulinoma because the general one used much less blood and he isn't healthy enough to find a good vein. So, I'll have those results back with in a week. He's just blaa. he only wants to sleep.

A BG takes little to no blood and can be done right there. It's also very cheap to have done. That would be one of the first tests I would do myself. Has anyone possibly suggested a blockage. Those are symptoms of a blockage. Was an xray or barium done? ciao

Coccidia (a protozoan parasite) is tough on them takes time to get rid of. The albon doesn't kill the organism but inhibits reproduction. That's probably the major problem. He must have diarrhea? Loss of appetite and lethargy are signs of the infection. With that, it's important to keep him hydrated, and keep feeding him. Do you have any other ferrets or pets? Coccidia is readily transmitted through exposure to poop. Best wishes for a quick recovery.

Gums pink & wet? Poop patrol? Gums pink and wet. He has that nasty green poop. Thought to be because of diet change and coccidia

One needed more blood and only told us if he had insulinoma and the other was less blood but measured all functions We couldn't do both because of how much blood was needed and he barely had enough for one test

Blockages cannot be felt. Most have to be detected via barium xray. And if your vet can test a cat or dog for diabetes they can test your ferret for insulinoma there in the office. Ask if they have an alphatrak glucometer. I use a normal human one here at home
