does anybody know what the average 9wk old male Marshall farms ferret should weigh in grams (that is what my small scale reads)? the boy I got a few days ago is severely under weight (u can see and feel all his ribs and hip bones). he has had a few good meals and has gained 30 grams. just trying to get an idea for a goal weight for him. tonight he weighed in at 400 grams. even another pet store said he is very underweight for his size/age which I already new. I have been giving him ferretvite in a.m. and p.m. I'm feeding him as much as he will eat. just wondering what his goal should be. he has not been to the vet yet but I have kept in touch with the vet. she recommended for me to ask all of you since she does not see very many his age. she normally sees them after 12 wks of age.

The only kit weight I have is Minions. Now he was loosing weight and underweight when I got him at 12 weeks, he weighed 1 lb 11 oz. 1 pound = 453.59237 grams. So, he weighed 503.4875 He's about 15 weeks now, and weighs 2.5 = 1133.98 I don't know if that helps at all. Minion is not a marshals offspring. Years ago I had Napoleons, but lost a lot of my weight tables when my computer crashed. Hopefully, someone else has their records for their marshals kits. Both Napoleon and Minion are/were RC ferrets. Perhaps Katt remembers her little fellow's weights as he is a marshals furchild ciao

My Fenton is a Marshall ferret, he is approx. 20 weeks and weighed exactly 40 oz. last night, which is 2.5 lbs or 1133.98 grams.
Unfortunately I don't have any other samples from when he was younger.

At 3 months Dixie weighed 1 lb 6 oz, which is 624 grams. She's very wirey, thin, lean and long.

I never weighed Kenai as a baby. I really wish I had as he was Sooo tiny! But I didn't have a scale yet.

I work in a pet store where we sell Marshalls ferrets and I have noticed lately that in the past six or eight months they have been coming in small and under weight. I was so worried about the last we had that i asked my boss if I could take them to the vet and he said OK. The vet said they were fine and he said he has noticed Marshalls ferrets coming in smaller and smaller too. He was surprised when he saw one boy Thomas and said he was a tank and did not think he was a Marshalls ferrets, lol.

You could get a kitchen scale for around $20 online at Walmart.com, some have bowls that would be handy, but if not try to get them while they are sleepy and put them on it.

You could also use a fish scale. You put them in their harness and hang them from the hook ;D

I just use a flat top kitchen scale. I put a long tuppeware container on top of it, zero it out, put some oil in one end, and the ferret in the other
