So I am traveling home to my moms house today and wanted to take both my babies with me (for lots of reasons). However, its going to be the first time Ive traveled with them and its going to be a learning experience for me. I have a travel cat hard plastic carrier for them and a decent sized extra cage for them when I arrive. My question is since this is the first time that Im taking them with me would it be okay to take just one of them with me to "test the waters" and see how one does so Im not in over my head or will i run into more problems in the long run by having them separated for two days? (reintroducing them when i return or them being lonely while im gone?) i have someone taking care of them if i leave them but eventually there are times where i wont and ill have to take them with me so i wanted to try it sooner rather than later. Its a 3 hour drive one way. Thanks in advance.

From past experience, I would just take both. They'll feel more comfortable together and less afraid if they fear the car ride. I believe most ferrets are pretty easy in the car if they're in there carrier.

We've never had issues traveling with ferrets in a carrier. Most times they just go to sleep after 10-15 minutes. I like to put clothing/bedding in the seat to level the carrier and either belt it in or recline a seat against it to keep it from flying around

The first day I got my two I had an hour and a half drive home with them, they just curled under the blankets in the cat carrier and fell asleep the whole time.

Yours will be happier together, and less nervous in the car. I bought this for mine for when we travel. It's about $40. It's the Super Pet My First Home for rabbits. It fits four of mine (I haven't ridden with Keller yet), a puppy pad, water bottle (computer zip ties hold them tight) food dish and a hammock and small pet sleep bed with blanket. They generally sleep most of the way.

If you have a small travel cage I would just put them in that instead of the carrier.

One of my fuzzies is a Waardy boy, and new surroundings scare him, so when I go places that I want to take the ferrets, I end up only taking Layla. It'd be different if Marty weren't so afraid of everything. So I suggest taking both!

It was a total success. I took them both and I'm glad I did. They slept almost the whole way there and back. I kept it a comfortable cool temperature in the car and they seemed pretty content. Definitely nice to know they travel well. I did keep them in a "small" plastic travel cat carrier with some water, a litter box, toys, and blankets and it worked really well.
Thanks for all the input everyone.
