That's great you were able to find those things! Some ferrets do have a sensitivity to all fowl but it is not necessarily that way. You may find with the lamb shoulder she only eats the meat off it and the bone is too thick. This doesnt have any bone in it. Also I bought this all at an asian market. Are all this food human grade so I dont have to freeze for three days? Because the tongue and liver was frozen so I just cut it up and made her a soupie right then and there. The bone is very important, when buying things like that you should look for the least expensive parts of the bird (neck, wings, ect.) that has small or soft bones that they can ingest for their calcium.

I know your supposed to feed them non weight bearing bones for fowl but the quail is basically whole so can I not feed the legs?

The only reason we mention "non-weight bearing bones" is because these bones are more dense than the others, but with smaller birds this isn't a problem.

Can you do whole prey, frozen/thawed?

Quails are small enough you can give them the whole thing. Sometimes when they are first learning how to eat bones though you will need to smash them up a bit but quails are good bone in for everytime.

Can you do whole prey, frozen/thawed? Honestly I dont know if I could stomach feeding her whole prey. I know that sounds weird.

So I could essentially just buy quail and to replace chicken. Do you know why chicken is such an intolerance for ferrets? I know all dont have an intolerance but if its common I wonder why.

Yes as long as she is not intolerant to the quail absolutely. Nope I have no idea why it's a common one.

That's okay- you don't need to feed whole prey

So this was a weird poopy. I know you guys said that during the switch I would get a couple well this is the first one so far on the beef soupy. The darker poop was from earlier. I did get a green mucousy poop about 20 minutes ago. That's the first funky one since I started her. All her other poops look consistent. Just wanted to update this. So far when she did poop this it didn't smell sour so that's still good

Its also been really hot and I have tried to keep her cool. I have a fan on her cage. It was cool for the past couple of days and we got another heat wave so this could also be because its hot maybe? Her energy is good. Earlier today she was chasing me around trying to get my toes and then earlier her and I sat on the couch and wrestled with her so she is still acting correctly.

Fans don't work for ferrets as they don't sweat. Can you freeze large containers of ice and put those in with her wrapped in a towel?
