Oh yes I'm willing to do whole prey sorry I missed that question. I'll keep in mind the organic chicken may work for him in the future. Lamb and goat are both quite easy to get. I have a road full of butchers only about 10 minutes from my house thankfully. I just need to wait for them to be open! I also know the little pet shop up my road has frozen mice of varying sizes xx

That's good. Whole prey tends to go down (and come out) really well too.

I'll pick some mice up on Monday when the pet shop opens to have them available for when he's ready xx

Argh! Ok two things: butchers are all closed til tomorrow so he'll have to have chicken today again. And he just threw up a bunch of clear foamy saliva... I'm gonna do a blockage protocol I think just to be sure he's ok... xx

Actually, could be related to hair in his throat. He just pooped and it looked ok (as in, big enough. Still very mucousy though). Can give him an egg and keep an eye on him for now. What should I use in instances like that when I take chicken away? (As in while we're on step one) xx

Yeah called my vet on the emergency number. She's not too worried about it. My sister was the one who saw it rather than me and of course I panicked. Still I don't think I'm going to go out today! I'll stay close to keep an eye on him xx

Whew! I'm glad he's okay. Definitely could be related to hair or even just IBD. I would give him a little egg, maybe some pumpkin just in case. Keep a good eye. If he is pooping, eating and active we should be in the clear.
Sunday's are always a bad day for butchers. Mine isn't open either.

Me too lol. I had the same thought as you and gave him some pumpkin and an egg. He's ok.
Yeah seems Sunday is a bad day for anything animal related lol. Tomorrow should be fine to get everything xx

I wanted to check his weight so I filled out the form: 1. Ferret's name: Leo 2. Ferret's weight: 1245g (lw: 1261g) 3. Ferret eats 1oz on average per chicken sliver meal. 4. Stools on various proteins: varying and abnormal. Mucousy 5. Activity levels: normal 6. Weekly menu: Monday Am: an egg Pm: 0.5oz slivers
Tuesday Am: 1oz chicken slivers Pm: 1.5oz of the same
Wednesday Am: 1.5oz slivers, 1/2tsp Salmon oil Pm: 1oz thicker slivers, 1/2 tsp Salmon oil
Thursday Am: 1.5oz same sized slivers Pm: 2oz bigger slivers
Friday Am: 0.5oz same sized slivers Pm: 1.5oz same sized slivers
Saturday Am: 2oz same sized slivers Pm: 1oz slivers, 1oz soupie
Sunday Am: 1.5oz chicken slivers Pm: 0.5oz slivers, 1egg, 1tbsp pumpkin
Poor thing. Just going to try and get him to eat lamb tomorrow. I hope it works. I'm just sitting here watching him sleep. He doesn't look as comfortable as usual. I really hope he's ok. I don't know if I'd be able to cope if something happened to him... I've only had him less than two months but I've already fallen completely in love with him. I couldn't imagine life without him and it's awful knowing he's not 100% well right now xx

The weight isn't to concerning. Once we get his tummy under control, we should start seeing better results with his poos and even his absorption.

Thank you for the reassurance. Besides convering this in oil (which would be inconducive to what we're doing) is there anything I can do to encourage him to eat this? He's tipping his bowl over in protest. I tried hand feeding him a piece of muscle meat and he spat it out... He has some in his cage but hasn't touched it.
I made up a soupie and tried putting a little bit on his nose and he gagged and is hiding from me now xx

Is this just the lamb soupie? I know it will still not help his belly but trying mixing in half of some chicken soupie in there to get him to at least try it. We can reduce it till it is just lamb and go from there.

Yeah it was just lamb soupie. Ok will do. He didn't eat at all yesterday. I'm kind of concerned xx Edit: just found out the cat has been feeding him... Yes, that's what I said... Apparently she's been giving him pieces of chicken from her bowl - putting them on the floor for him to take, and he's been running off and eating them. My dad saw her do it yesterday but didn't tell me because he felt sorry for him. I just saw her do it today xx

Oh man!! Under normal circumstances that would be cute lol! If we weren't concerned about a sensitivity it wouldn't even be a concern. However since it is we need to figure something out. we don't want to upset his tummy while figuring out what he is having a reaction too. Make sure to let everyone know that Leo can get sick from eating the cats food.
I've had to deal with a similar issues. My dog is allergic to lamb, chicken and turkey. (Yeah the lamb is the one that blows my mind. Normally it's the most well received.) he is also a small high energy dog that needs fat and high protein. Unfortunately I don't have the space to do raw for the ferrets, cat and my dogs so they are on a high end kibble with raw treats. I feed left over ferret meat to my other dogs but Jack can't have any. I use freeze dried raw for Jack so he doesn't feel left out. Lol! We also have to watch him around feeding time since the other dogs food is lamb based.

Yeah I didn't think I would need to be concerned about that since Leo was kind of scared of her and definitely wouldn't take her food. But yeah looks like socks is trying to make him see she's not scary. Lol. Still yes we will need to feed them at separate times and have Leo away from her until she finishes. I have told everyone in my family not to let her give him food and to make sure not to give him anything but lamb until further notice. My dad thinks I'm being over the top but I have explained that unlike his ferrets that were fed raw from being kits, Leo has eaten rubbish for a year and so is needing to be readjusted, and isn't as healthy as they were either. I think he kind of gets it now.
Awww poor doggy! Is he a Patterdale? I don't know why I have that image in my head. I bet he tries to steal their food!
I'm still in the hospital. Hope I'll come out soon. My sister told me she managed to get Leo to eat half his lamb and chicken soupie, so that's about an ounce of it (so about half an ounce of lamb and half of chicken)
If I'm not out soon I'll get her to give him another meal of the same. He seems to eat better for her for some reason xx
