1. Where did you first learn about natural diets for ferrets? pets and wildlife group on facebook
2. Please describe the type of diet you would like assistance in switching your ferret(s) to. Be sure to include if you are interested in feeding whole prey (live or frozen-thawed) and if you are wanting to FULLY switch to a natural diet or PARTIALLY. If you are unsure what kind of diet you want to put your ferrets on, please express that and we can help you find the best type of natural diet for your ferret.
I am interested in switching fully to a frozen thawed diet
3. Why are you interested in switching your ferrets to a natural diet? After searching for a kibble i was very upset by what i read about the kibbles produced for ferrets. I just couldnt find one that met my requirements. All of my pets are fed high quality foods from my dog all the way down to the rats and mice i breed for snake feeder. My ferrets will be fed what they naturally eat and what will give them a healthy and long life. Its only fair
4. Do you understand that switching your ferret to a natural diet can be a lengthy, arduous process? Its not an overnight switch. It can be a commitment of several weeks or even months. Your HF Mentor will be more then happy to assist you in switchng your ferret(s) to a natural diet, but you need to be equally as commited. If you aren't willing to tough out a potentially lengthy switching process, or if you have major life changes approaching (baby on the way, moving, starting school, getting married/divorced, etc) then it might be a better idea to wait on switching your ferret's diet until you have more time. Are you willing to make the commitment? I and well aware of the commitment it will take and am ready and willing to do whatever is required of me.
5. How many ferrets do you currently have? What are their names? Ages? Genders? Do they have any health problems? Are they overweight? Underweight? How long have you had each ferret for? I currently have 1 ferret, name is booger, 3 months, male, no health problems that i am aware of, and i dont believe he is overweight or underweight but then again im not exactly sure what he should weigh.
6. What diet do you currently feed your ferrets? (Please include all treats, supplements, etc) Do they already eat some form of soup? He was being fed marshalls before i got him as well as triumph wet cat food, i have since switched him to evo kibble which i softwn with a bit of water but i still have to mix in some of the wet cat food or else he wont eat. I have not started any raw feeding yet, since i will be out of town for work for 4 days starting on monday april 27. I will be home again on may 1st which is when i plan on making the switch.
7. Have you ever tried to switch your ferrets to a natural diet in the past? If yes, what happened?
No
8. What additional information about yourself or your ferrets would you like to share? Booger is a ball of energy, he seems to already be "potty trained" or atleast he goes in one area of his cage anyway. He doesn't like much about the actually "potty box" i gave him. He is very vocal and will absolutely let me know when he thinks its time to come out and be free, even if its 3am.
9. How often during the week do you have access to a computer? 24/7
10. Please post a picture of each of your ferrets (if possible). im having some trouble getting good pictures of my speed demon but i will make it a priority.
11. Have you met the requirements for this program? Are you at least 18 years of age? Do you have your scale, a place to access meats, hearts, livers, etc? I am over 18, i have a digital scale that can weight up to 5000 grams, and i have local butchers, as well as an acme and a shoprite that sells these items, and an asian foods store as well. Also my neighbor feeds her dogs raw and told me she orders from raawenergy.com i checked out their website and can basically order everything i need from them. Oh and i have an amish market not far from me that will most certainly have what i need. I am having trouble finding the human grade bone meal powder but i will make it happen somehow.
