I take my ferret out for walks on his harness he is a pet not a working one. The problem is that I find crows, raven, and other larger birds following us any idea of how to deter this. Been thinking of putting something on his harness but don't know what.Any ideas people.

Those big birds are scarey and can be fearless. I haven't read about bells on collars detracting birds, but I have read that they can alert coyotes and other four legged beasties, that a small pet is nearby. One thing to do is to ensure that the leash is short and your fuzzie is close to you. Your presence is a good deterrant. You might consider buying an handheld alarm to set off, if a bird gets too close. www.amazon.com/Secure%C2%AE-Loud-Mate-Emergency-Personal-Safety/dp/B00B9GMB92Try to stay out from under trees where they are hiding and watching. If a bird gets to close, pick up your ferret and hold him close. Keep an eye on the sky, and your ferret close. Good luck and happy ferret walks.

Thanks for that I do keep him on a short lead we have no big predators here in the UK. But the birds do follow along walls. But I did have a dog attack him also came from no where lucky he is ok but now scared of them. Walk him mainly on pa the and grass fields around houses.

Basically all you can do is keep him close, and be hypervigilent. We have red tail Hawks in our area who have carried off cats before. So I just watch when out

At the park crows will follow us too, and make loud cawing noises. I think it makes other people in the park uncomfortable (yes, it's that obvious/loud). None have ever tried swooping in/coming close but we are really careful anyway. It's a lot worse when babies are hatching up in the nests. Crows are hyper-vigilant over their babies in the same way we are over our ferrets I knew a girl who got viciously attacked by crows simply because she (unknowingly) happened to walk under a nest in a tree while crossing the park.
