Any body use a homemade litter? Im trying to find a cheaper alternative or something I could use if I run out & am not able to get to a pet store. I was thinking shredded news paper but it doesn't work well for absorbing & I think it'd turn into just something to play in.

Honestly, I can't think of a situation in which I'd be willing to go through all this; I'd just go to the store. Personally, the major drawback is space: I have about 650sq ft to work with, and I'm not sacrificing any of that for giant screens to dry paper litter on. That's just me though, and if this works for you, please let us know.

Michaela, u can try paper towels to see if that is cheaper---about two or three to a potty. The pik a size makes for a bigger sheet and will cover floor of potty better. I have oodles of potties in my house. My baby is on yesterdays news right now, but i am going to switch her over later. 1 potty in dining area 2 in living room 2 in spare bedroom 6 in their bedroom (this includes 1 in each of their two cages and 4 in corners of bedroom) 1 in baby's playpen mine will come down out of their cage and use potties in their bedroom at night if there is a little too much poopy in cage potty. oh yea i could probably stand a couple more potties Putting yesterdays news in all of those would empty small bag . Not all paper towels are equal either-- Bounty is the best
