After being surrendered to a shelter from what she thought was her forever home, Cage raging the entire drive to the shelter, Losing her cage-mate 2 days after losing her home, I am happy to say that Ally has found her true forever home (for real this time) She scratched at the carrier the entire drive home, When I got her home she ran herself exhausted running around the house bumping into walls and obstacles, just like Koufos. (she may be going blind too) She decided to curl up in some blankets on the floor. And there she sleeps. I hope she knows she will never have to experience being abandoned again, She will be loved and cared for until her time is up. Her fur is wiry and dry, whiskers are short and brittle. Tail hair is thinning. Teeth have plaque buildup. I don't think she was on a balanced raw diet. I felt so bad for all of those ferrets in the shelter. I wanted to take them all home. All 35 of them. I wanted to give them all a forever home. Hearing all their stories of abandonment, abuse, neglect. My heart goes out to them. But alas I drove 300 miles today to only rescue one ferret. and for those of you that are keeping count, Yes that is 8.. an all time record for me. I am truly addicted and I don't expect to get the kind of help I need on this forum. so I cant create a thread introducing Alley without pictures FYI the sore on her head is from her ramming her head into the bars of the crate door during the ride to the shelter. I opted to put her in a soft carrier for her ride home. (main reason I prefer soft carriers) the ride home Al Checking out Alley

This is the first time since her cage-mate passed away that she has had interaction with other ferrets. Seems like Al and Gypsy are fine with her as I hoped they would be, but this is only day 1. Day 2 is when it hits the fan normally. But here is a picture of Gypsy and Alley just 3 hours after introducing them. Gypsy is such a shy sweetheart I can't imagine her being mean to her. She won't even retaliate when she is getting picked on by my other brats

Poor little ferret. She is gorgeous though. Congratulations to you both. I hope things continues to go well. I would love to take in more ferrets, but my boys keep me more than busy now. Lol

The more a learned about her history, the more I knew I had to rescue her, She would not have been adopted out until they switched he back to kibble. she refused to eat kibble, and I am sure would have starved herself, she is quite thin and seems malnourished to me. The shelter mom said that it is really hard to find someone wants to adopt a raw fed ferret. She believed That If I did not take her she would have spent the rest of her days at the shelter.
she still has not eaten much, just 2 spoonfuls last night, I am hoping this will change when she gets settled in and more comfortable. She ate about 1 tablespoon full this morning then she was off, running around the house bumping into everything, she is on her 5th lap around the house. the funny thing is when she comes up to the soup plate she always stops and takes a couple of licks at the soup and then runs off again. I think she is too interested in the new surroundings to eat, I know she is hungry but she has got better things to do right now.
She is such a skinny little thing, we need to get some weight on her.
On a good note, all was peaceful last night with Al and Gypsy. This morning Al seems really interested in her. He is following her around and trying not to get in her way. He even jumps over her to avoid bumping into her. I think he is trying to smell her ears, but she has not stopped long enough for him to get a good sniff.
she just curled up to go back to sleep. I offered her some more soup and some water. (I don't think she knows where is it yet) she ate about a teaspoon of soup and a few laps of water, I have put her back in her cage to get some more rest. I am sure she is stressed from her past few weeks.

So this morning I noticed she was staggering and falling over. I tried to get a BG reading but I could not get blood from a wiggly ferret without help.
When I got home she was still the same way. We got her to sit still long enough to get a blood sample. It was 40. I called the closest emergency vet and that is where I am now. Waiting for them to take a blood test. I will update with her status.
