Hi everyone,
At the moment i am still feeding my ferrets mostly james wellbeloved kibble but i am trying to untroduce a raw diet. They all LOVE the blended raw meats that i give them but none of them bother with the whole chicken wings that i give them.
When i first got Lola she did enjoy the chicken wings but now shes not bothered and just eats the kibble and blended meat.
I'm wondering if there is a way to make them eat and enjoy the chicken- i eventually just want to feed raw.
and also is it safe to let them eat whole raw chicken bones? lola has eaten them before no problem but im always anxious that it will splinter or get stuck.
thanks.

What's in your blended meat mix...that might be the easiest way to introduce your bone. You can make larger pieces until you can use cut up pieces of bone in the mixture....from there it's just larger and larger pieces. Also if they're already eating meat take away the kibbles. There are a couple of recipes out there that can work very well as a stand alone where you don't have to feed kibbles at all. Ferrets are a lazy chew and if they don't have to they just won't ciao

You need a minimum of 3 different proteins. Chicken, turkey, beef, lamb, goat, cornish game hen, duck, pork, etc. Whatever you can get your hands on. They also need liver and another organ, as well as heart meat on a weekly basis.

If you'd like more help, you could start a thread in the newbie section or apply for a mentor. I like using soup and work my way up from smooth to chunky.

Dried eggshells should be raw (not boiled or cooked) and should be ground extremely fine. They provide lots of calcium and help firm up stools.

the only bones that will splinter are cooked or dried out bones , fresh raw bones will normaly not harm your furry friends .. as in anything you feed even kibble there are always risk ..
If you are just wanting to try wings befor you start your switch you can try a few things that mit get them interested in at least playing with them .
coat them with feratone if you feed them it as a treat or olive oil if they like it and you can play tug a war with them with it at first to get them interested in it some ..
you can also bread it with crushed kibble
try and use small wings and legs like wingdings they are the sise of your thumbs ... Lola will probly start eating them again since she did befor but expect them to just lick the goodies off and stash it at first .. tug a war is a good fun way to egt them to get there teeth in the meat so they get the feel for it . then let them run away with and se what happens you never know mite get lucky ..
