Did he pet them or leave the carrier closed? Perhaps even with the carrier closed, having both Mom & Dad along made it seem more "normal" to them. I tried singing to Maisie in the car but it didn't seem to help! Although I think she did like it when I sang lullabies to her when she was on cage rest after surgery. (Yes, another chapter in "What we'll do keep our furbabies happy" ) I tried to vary the slivers but couldn't really see a preference on her part. I'll keep varying. This morning she actually left all the slivers, but she did stash something right before that, so I'm guessing she's not hungry. She does that sometimes -- if she comes upon one of those tangled stringy bits that the blender didn't quite get, she'll either stash it or just stop eating, as if she's willing to eat as long as it's easy, but as soon as it gets a little tough, she's outta there. Lazy bum Chicken -- that would be great, because I have quite a bit of chicken, including soup cubes, taking up space in my freezer! I'll give her a cube of chicken tonight; should I keep the slivers pork or switch to chicken? I'll watch her like a hawk.

Haha! I crack up and the I *think* the babies like his "singing"! That's so so sweet you sang lullabies to Maisie! (swoon!) (sniff) I can't wait to hear how the chicken goes! Umm, if you have any chicken slivers or can make some-that would be great! I'm hoping the chicken goes well, but if not, at least we tried!

She gobbled up the chicken cube and the 7 slivers -- really licked it dry. On the 2nd serving she just licked one of the slivers. These were peels from frozen chicken thigh, so tomorrow I'll try another format, unless she has problems overnight. Hopefully not!

Aww sounds like she loves chicken! I hope her body loves it too?

The verdict is still out but at least if there's an allergy it isn't a severe one: - last night her paws were dark pink BUT she had been sleeping in my clothes in the hottest room - overnight poops looked a little on the spectrum towards black pudding BUT they weren't that bad and may be normal - she seems to be itching more BUT that really could be my paranoia - her morning poop after breakfast was great and she was quite hyper this morning So I think I'll continue feeding her chicken and see what happens? Yes, she seems to really love it She still won't eat separate slivers though. She ate the 7 slivers in the soup and vigorously cleaned the bowl. The next seven slivers were maybe licked while she was drinking up the warm water they were in (a very small amount barely covering the slivers). I didn't have time to try non-peels this morning but I'll try tonight. And maybe try hand feeding with salmon oil again. It's strange, part of me wants her to be allergic because that would explain why she was so poorly for so long. On the other hand, perhaps the dental cleaning really made a big difference? It sure would be easier if she could eat chicken, and all related fowl

Her dark pink paws-is this her pads or the whole paw itself? And would you be able to take a pic of her next poop? Her itchies-maybe she's still shedding? I think since she was hyper, that's a great sign! I'll tag Jason and see what he thinks about how 'reactions'. bitbyterJust so we're all on the same page, could you post what is in the soup receipe? Also, don't forget to add some bonemeal (but I'm sure you have that convered!) Unless Jason says otherwise, I think it's okay to continue with the chicken. It's strange, part of me wants her to be allergic because that would explain why she was so poorly for so long. On the other hand, perhaps the dental cleaning really made a big difference? It sure would be easier if she could eat chicken, and all related fowl I know how you feel-it's so frustrating when we don't know the exact cause or the correct answer when it comes to our babies. Another thought; Maisie was going through so much! You were her 3rd home, she had surgery and tons of meds, you changed her kibble, and then you threw raw at her (which is a good thing!). Her little body and mind had so many changes, maybe that's what gave her some funky poops? I'm not sure how concrete that explaination could be, but thought I'd throw it out there! I hope she's not allergic, especially since she loves it so much! But if she is, you 2 have been through bigger hurdles! I hope you 2 are having a good day so far! Keep us updated

Only the pads were red I think. I'll pay closer attention if it happens again. Yeah, those funky poops were at the end of 3 weeks of antibiotics so it could easily have been that. This soup version is old reliable: 8 oz chicken thigh 1 oz chicken heart 1 oz chicken liver 1/2 tsp human grade bone meal Yes, I'll take a pic of her poops and share the joy Thanks!

Definitely take a picture of her paws as well the next time you see it. I'll like to have a look.

Overnight poops look good (I have a pic if you want to see them). Paw pads are normal. She still seems a little itchier than normal, and the dreaded tooth grind is back. Just twice upon awakening, brief and kinda sloppy (like it could be a piece of food stuck in her mouth rather than a pure pain grind... if that makes sense??!).
Food-wise, as all the other times with chicken, she eats the soup + 7 slivers and licks the bowl dry, but then completely ignores the 2nd serving of just 7 slivers. She'll drink the small amount of water they come in, and she'll lick them if they have salmon oil on them, but won't eat them.

If you took a poop pic-might as well share? (giggle)
I wonder if she's not truly "grinding" her teeth, but rather lip smackin'? Or a dry mouth? Does she ever sleep with her tongue sticking out? I would be surprised if she had a piece of food stuck after she slept...but maybe that could happen? Definitely keep an eye on it though. If it happens again, let's keep it documented in the thread with a when/where/how long, etc and see if we can figure out a pattern.
The fact that her poops and her paws were good are a great sign! (dance)
Since she keeps licking the plate clean, but not interested in the second serving (does she ever eat some of the extra slivers between meals?), what if you gave her 9 slivers instead of 7? Maybe try 9 slivers, in addition to her soup, and see what she does. I know it sounds weird, but don't do 10. Try 9 slivers tonight and see if she still licks the plate clean! If she does clean that plate, then offer her only 3 slivers. I wonder, when she sees 7 slivers (2nd serving) without soup, if that's why she won't eat them?

Yeah, I'm not sure it's true grinding. I've heard "true" grinding (what I'm sure is grinding) -- the last time was after drinking cold water, which is what got her the dental cleaning. She never sleeps with her tongue out, it's even rare for her one pointy canine to be showing. I don't think she has food stuck in her mouth, but it's the only way I can describe the sound it makes compared to the clear grinding. Yeah, maybe she's just smacking her lips since it's usually when she peeks out to greet me. She never seems to eat slivers between meals. So do you mean add 9 slivers to the soup? And then if she eats everything, give her just 3 as a 2nd serving? I shall not question your mysterious aversion to the number 10 Poop pic since you asked!

I'm not sure if tagging works on phones but, bitbyter, what do you think? (Picture)

Same thing, more or less! Soup + 9 slivers was gobbled up, except for one sliver that stuck to the wall of the bowl. I added 3 slivers and a bit of warm water: she drank the water. I took a sliver out, put salmon oil on it and offered it to her: she licked the oil off, left the sliver. I guess it's nice we have a routine

That's all great! YAY! (dance)
I'd like you to stick with 1oz soup plus 9 slivers for 2 more meals. As long as she eats the 9 slivers, I'd like us to lessen the soup. Let's see how the next 2 meals go first!
You are doing great!
