So I just recently bought a super amazing a cheap ninja food processor on markdown at my store. I was going to use this to start transitioning my babies onto raw by making them soupie.
Now, I was wondering, if I do it properly, can they forever be on soupie our I'd it recommended to try and actually give then meat to tear into? I plan on giving them actually meats every now and again as they seem okay with muscle meat, but they dint seem to fond of organ meat and bones.
Thanks in advance!

It's recommended to use soupie as a starting point and eventually give them individual meal types (bone in, muscle, organ). This is so they start chomping on bone to clean their teeth. It's also been suggested that ferrets get overweight more easily on soup because the food is extremely digestible in that form. Some people use a soup/puree consistency for feeding the organs if their ferrets won't eat them any other way.

Are they more likely to eat pureed organ after it's been in soupie? I've gotten them to eat chicken wings without even changing then over, but they wouldn't touch the liver ...

I have to feed mine pureed organs to get them to eat organs. They will not eat them any other way.
U will probably have to hold them and daub mouth at first. They will run away most likely and hide, but get them and do it again a few times. That may be all the luck u have for that day-- a few daubs at the mouth.
It may take several times of doing this procedure before they will eat organ soupie. I still have to hold one of mine initially to get her started----I think Poncesmom has one that is same way.

I think it depends on the ferrets. Unlike abbeytheferret6, my girls freaking love organs - it's they're favourite meals. I'm pretty sure they could eat an unlimited amount of hearts and keep going until they pop. A little less keen on kidney (I don't blame them, it reeks) but I usually mix it with the heart and they're good. How old are they? Truthfully, if they're already eating chicken wings on their own they probably don't even need the soupie stage and you can go straight to slivers/small chunks. If they aren't keen on heart and liver you can puree those and feed in a soup form, maybe mixed/topped with salmon oil, raw egg, or anything else they really like. If they're eating chicken wings you probably won't have too much trouble with bones. You can always start with a smaller bird such as quail or cornish game hen - they have really soft bones - and feed the ribs and wings to start. I believe rabbits also have soft bones but haven't personally tried yet. Mice and chicks have small/soft bones too if you're willing to try whole prey.

Jake is 6 and my other two are 3. I audio recently just adopted two girls she 2. I haven't actually tried with the new ladies yet (been a little mite predicted with getting Jake medical attention fir his adrenal).
The problem was that they weren't eating bone, so I am nit sure how to go about that ...

Hearts r the exception. Mine luv hearts, too. It is the liver and kidneys. I had one eating pork brains and one day she decided she did not like it anymore. However it has been a while , she might like it again. Yes they r piggies for heart

My girls really love liver too actually, just not kidney. I haven't tried them with any other organs yet.

I've only tried giving them liver. Attempting to late heart in my area and it's pricing a little problematic. I am sure wherever I find heart, I may be able to find brain? Was kinda curious about that ...

Mine eat duck hearts because one has allergy to chicken. I feed lamb liver and lamb kidney because of chicken allergy.

Did you try putting egg yolk, or some oil that they like on the liver and kidneys? maybe cutting it up into small pieces as well?
mine really like heart soupie, and small liver bits but they hardly touch it in big pieces.

I kid of course, but could you maybe send some organ luck my way? Princesscat as I understand it soupie alone minus bone would mean a lot of tooth brushing during the week. There's a time investment for getting bones in but a temporary one rather than a permanent tooth brushing one! I'm in the same boat as you getting Kat into bones, she's doing okay on chopped wingettes. I would try chopped up bone in of the type of muscle meat they like the best. For Kat it's chicken, it's the only reason she tries I bet because she loves her some boneless chicken chunks!

I bought a bunch of duck carcases. They r ducks stripped of meat. I give the backs to puppy, but the ribs i put with different kinds of muscle meat and make it a bone in meal. Soupies are not meant to be their permanent food. I am not sure how long you can keep them on it, though. You can text a mentor, and they will find out for you.

linsul, feeding the organ meals as soupie is totally fine. Mine actually eat a lot quicker/better. Instead of feeding 1.5 meals of heart and 1.5 meals of liver/organ I feed 3 meals made up of 50% heart, 25% liver, and 25% kidney/another organ. Ferrets tend to really like heart (a lot) so I guess it covers up the "nastiness" of the liver/kidney/other organs. Soupie is only bad for their teeth if it's all they're getting - i.e. not eating any teeth-cleaning bones. Lots of ferrents always feed their fuzzies' organ meats ground. My grinder is in storage right now since I'm (hopefully) moving soon so have resorted to just chopping the organs, but they definitely don't lick the bowl clean like they do with the grind.
