So last night Nova had a rather skinny/liquidy poop, but since they're switching they have funny poops all the time so I decided to just keep an eye on her. This morning there was a very skinny poop in the litter box, but it was dry so it was presumably less skinny when originally made... Anyway, when Nova got up she used her litter box and was really straining. The resulting poop was not "super" skinny, but she kind of continued it onto the floor, which I've never seen her do before. In the first pic you can see it kind of has a "trail" on the floor of liquidy-mucousy diarrhea. The second pic is a closeup of the "main" poop. It's a little seedy and a little mucousy. She isn't lethargic per se, but she's a lot less active this morning than usual. She tucked herself back into bed shortly after getting up. I pulled her out of her hammock and set her down to play and she fell asleep on her toybox which she has never done. I pulled her out again and now she's playing in the tunnel with Mocha, although I suspect she'll go back to bed as soon as Mocha stops harassing her. I started the blockage protocol and have done one round of each, but have to go to work now so I'll try and get my husband to continue/keep an eye on her when she gets up. Anyway, if anybody has pictures of "blockage poops" it would be extremely informative as the poop chart doesn't have any and the description is usually just limited to "skinny poops" which isn't very helpful. Tagging @muchasbellas my mentor, and @julesalot because I think she's done several blockage protocols with Caillou so might have some insight. Additional Info: - As far as I can tell she hasn't eaten anything. She does love rubbery stuff but mostly chews on her pink bone which has no pieces missing. I've looked around and can't find anything else she could have eaten. - She isn't puking, heaving or anything else really obvious. She did have hiccups this morning which is uncommon for her, but not for ferrets in general. - Her last meal (last night) was 1 oz "organ" consisting of 1/2 heart, 1/4 liver and 1/4 kidney. - She didn't eat any breakfast this morning but she might just be full from the protocol "meals". I did get her to eat two FDR treats, and made her "roll over" for them (even in times of crisis treats don't come for free) so she's definitely cognisant enough to do tricks.

Continue blockage protocol until you get a nice big orange poop, if it has something in it continue until it doesn't.
If a ferret still poops while it has a blockage then its a partial blockage. An actual blockage means no poop. I'm not sure if we have any pictures, but every ferret is different, it will be thin like a pencil or little "drops" If it's partial.
Ferrets can have floating blockages that may not cause problems for days or weeks, so she could've eaten something long ago.
Continue blockage protocol, try and get her to eat if you can as that will help push it along, keep her hydrated and if at any point she vomits or crashes take her to the Vet immediately and get a BARIUM X-Ray. If they don't want to demand it, make sure it's Barium. Blockages may not even show up on this, if the protocol can't push it out surgery would be needed. But, she could be fine, it could be an off day or too much bonemeal, just monitor her.

Well she hasn't had bonemeal since yesterday morning since her previous meal was organ. I had to leave for work but my husband will be home for another hour, which will make it about 3 hours since I started the protocol so I really hope she'll poop before then. He can't really stay past that, but obviously will if Nova's life depends on it.
As it happens they actually have a vet visit scheduled for tomorrow afternoon/evening (for distemper vac and blood work).

I can't really add any advice but just wanted to say Nova is in my thoughts and I hope it was just a little bit of an upset stomach and now passed. They like to cause a bit of havoc don't they.

I hope Nova's doing well! I have a blockage poop pic, I'll upload it when I get home, but at that point it was a jelly mess. Before that, she'd had 2 poops (several days apart) that were 2 pieces of normal with just a "string" attaching the two. I should have taken a picture, sorry. In any case they didn't look like yours. Hopefully the pumpkin will show that Nova is completely fine. Hang in there!

well when slyiet had his blockage yesterday the only thing he was able to poop out before the blockage came out was a tiny bit of the ground pork i had forced fed him for breakfast and it came out looking just like it went in undigested. no brown color or anything, just a tiny bit of mucus. and he pooped that 3 hours after i had force fed him, i think the only reason he passed that was because it was ground meat
also his lower belly was sagging a bit when we walked and he acted very tender when the vets felt his belly. when he finally did poop out his stupid rubber that he ate there was a lot of smelly goo coming out with it
your vet will want to do an xray with barium, they may also want to do a normal xray aswell, this is up to you and probably wont be as helpful as the barium. on slyiet's xrays yesterday they didnt show a blockage but they did show a lot of gas in the large intestine, some soft stuff in his belly, and some gas bubbles in hiw small intestine which can be caused by a blockage
your weasel may just be having an off day though. slyiet sometimes has yucky poops like that but besides for trying to dye yesterday he is a very healthy ferret
also if this is a blockage your ferret will get dehydrated so be sure to keep an eye on that

@shanna66 I did read your thread and I was so glad to hear Slyiet was okay! Blue, the poop I woke up to that was dried was very skinny, maybe a little thicker than a piece of spaghetti, but of course it was dried to probably originally a little larger. My husband did stay home about 2 hours after me and continued the blockage protocol. He texted me saying she pooped and it seemed kind of orange. I asked him if it was really thin or not and he said "kind of" - but in relative terms I don't know what that is since he hadn't seen the other ones. Having said that, the fact that Nova pooped at all is hopeful and I'm counting down the minutes until I can rush home and baby her. Truthfully, I'm terrified that she's home alone unsupervised in case anything happens, but given that she was pooping at least a little and not puking I'm hoping that she's fine. We happen to have a vet appointment tomorrow so if her poops are still really skinny we might add the barium xray to the list of things to get done there.

abbeytheferret6 you seriously have no idea how that makes me feel! I'm sick with worry and know I could never forgive myself if I came home and she was worse.

So below is Maisie's poop the night before the surgery. It was a blockage due to gastritis (more of a clogging), not due to a foreign object, so I don't know how helpful it is. She was on kibble at the time, and she was so dehydrated when I got her to the vet. Nova's got a huge advantage there with the raw diet. Let us know how things go!!!!!

How is she feeling now? Sometimes mine have poops like that too- forgot to mention, it happens, but with decreased energy or appetite be wary. Better safe than sorry

For anyone who wants to know, I came home to this! When I got home Nova was suuuuper hungry too. Once I put the food down she ate like a hob!

Bonus for @julesalot, RedSky, Blue, @shanna66, abbeytheferret6 and everyone else who send positive thoughts - Nova was feeling so well this evening that she even decided to show off her tricks!

That was adorable! And she's really good at rolling over, too! "Meerkat", that's a good idea. I was trying "stand" which didn't really work because I kept accidentally adding "up" and I want her to understand "up" separately. Anyway, awesome news that she's fine!!!! The little brat (I love how Mocha ambled over to see what was going on and then wandered off!)

Haha Mocha would be great at learning tricks since she is a lot more focused and has a longer attention span than Nova, but I can't get her to eat treats!
You'd think the whole switch to raw would open her up to new foods... But nope. If she only learns to eat treats I'll be very proud of her.
