So, I had the Super Pet cage which is like 2'x2' base and 3 feet tall, and just this week I upgraded to a Ferret Nation 142! I'm lovin' it! Now, what to do with the old cage? My ferrets visit other people's houses pretty often, and the pet carrier I have for them is kind of too small. The Super Pet cage however was too tall to fit in my car. I was looking at the cage today and the solution was so obvious! The way the Super Pet cage is put together, you can remove half of the height by bending some wires and taking off some panels. And so, viola! The Super Pet cage gets chopped in half, and now will fit in my back of my car, and is now my travel cage for them! Woohoo! It may have been a crappy full-time home cage, but for a travel-in-the-car cage, it's perfect! P1010245 by walkerstop, on Flickr

Excellent. I've actually got one of the ferret mansions that has been cut down. It's an awesome hospital/isolation cage. One level and ample space (I have a series of hammies that have been made to create a second floor if need for an isolation cage) Great work ciao

Brilliant idea! I considered keeping mine for a spare cage, but then I remember how much I hated cleaning the freaking thing... but condensing it like that might make a good quarantine cage or a good place for a ferret after surgery or something. Smart idea.

Great idea and good way to reuse instead of getting rid of. I'm sure they love the space to climb up and get in the hammocks.

It is always nice to have an extra cage. That's extra cage can be hospital cage or you can use it to quarantine a new ferret. My extra cage has come in handy for those reasons.
