ahhh my sweet Sophie Ann...she's a fear biter too and fast...oh boy...hurts like the dickens when she bites and even though I've heard both Sherry and Heather say don't pull away I still do which is really does make it worse! It's not like I should be surprised that she's biting me, it's an almost daily occurance, which for Sophie Ann is good considering there was a time that it was a multiple times a day thing for her I've never had her bites get infected, but then again I have a pretty good immune system, I'm a pre-school teacher, and well, snot and other lovelies are a fact of life...

Unfortunately pulling away is an instinct you just have to fight really hard. When hedgehogs bit (those little monsters can clamp hard!) you actually have to push in (only way to get them to release). My wound has healed up nicely and there's been no more biting incidents. The girls even know how to "rough house" with me now without biting hard, so I dont mind them being mouthy as long as they arent being too rough That sounds so painful Heather, but it sounds like you would have a pretty good immune system! Sounds like a fun and very exhausting but rewarding career!

Wow! I'm surprised they've learned it that quickly!

I know, I'm so proud They still bite my toes a little too hard sometimes, but I can actually roll them around on the ground and rough house and they'll chase me around without biting me. And I'm super careful to watch my fingers now when I hand-feed or put new food in their cage.
