That is still quite low. I would suggest calling your vet to see if they think an increase in dose is an order. You should be able to find bone meal at a health store, yes.

My vet told me to give it 2 weeks and then we could revisit the dose, so one more week to go. She probably will need an increase because she's not progressing as quickly as I would like. How do I get my girls to eat just chunks of meat instead of soupie all the time...I guess that's why we add the slivers? I will check out Yummy Chummies :thankyou:

Yep! I got the 32oz bottle with the pump top and I have a smaller squeeze bottle that I give him oil with. But when I buy some again I will probably get the smaller bottle, the 32oz is lasting FOREVER and I'm a little worried about it going rancid. I'm glad you have a vet appointment to adjust her dose. Ferrets (and humans) can adjust to having a really low or high blood glucose but 39 is just worrisome. Good to hear that she's got more spunk though! ^.^ To get them entirely on chunks you're going to just keep decreasing the amount of soup and increasing the amount of chunks, until that's all they're eating. Then we can work on increasing the size of the pieces! How big are they right now?

The chunks are not big at all right now...they are smaller then the size of a penny. Should I increase the size?

Are they on a soup/chunk mix still or just chunks?

soup chunks and I do notice that Mia chews them more than Bella.

I think it's better to get the soup out of the equation entirely, then work on increasing the size of your pieces. When you start increasing the easiest way to get them to accept it will be to make them long and thing, like string beans or spaghetti for fuzzbutts.

ok sounds good...I'll keep increasing every time I make a batch. I want to have them off the soupie eventually that's for sure.

Okay, let me know how it goes! Increasing can be tricky because they can be such lazy eaters, haha.

Tomorrow I'll try and add stringy pieces and see how it goes. I'll keep you posted.

How did they do with their larger pieces?

I find they eat them better when they are not stringy....I even saw Bella chowing down on her chunks yesterday. If I put stringy slices they don't prefer it.

Interesting...maybe Remus is just strange. Do what works for you. As long as the size of the pieces are increasing, I'm happy.
