1. Where did you first learn about natural diets for ferrets?
-I first learned about it here a few years back when I was browsing around for my friends ferret. And I remembered all my options when I recently got my babies 2 months ago.
2. Please describe the type of diet you would like assistance in switching your ferret(s) to.
- I want to do the frankenprey raw diet but im not sure on the wholeprey yet. Its a lot easier for me to buy the variety of meat and my boys seem to be taking to it very well. Also my ferret cage is in the same room as my rat cage so Id like to believe that my rats are intelligent and would be aware of my ferrets eating rats or something like that (sorry i know that seems kind of dumb :/)
3. Why are you interested in switching your ferrets to a natural diet?
- I want whats best for my furkids and I dont think that a kibble is a nutritionally complete diet for ferrets. My rats dont eat commercial food so I'd like the same for my ferrets. :] Also a lot of the ingredients in commercial ferret food is undigestable or is turned to glucose in their body and I want to avoid anything that could cause insulinoma.
4. Do you understand that switching your ferret to a natural diet can be a lengthy, arduous process?
-Yes I understand. Getting them to eat the soupy was hard at first and I have the time for my babies. Im actually very excited ^.^
5. How many ferrets do you currently have? What are their names? Ages? Genders? Do they have any health problems? Are they overweight? Underweight? How long have you had each ferret for?
- I have 4 ferrets. All males. There is Raziel and he is almost 5 months old and doesn't have any health problems. I think he is at a normal weight and i've had him since he was 2 months old.
Then there's Murphy also 5 months, i think he could use some more weight on him and i've had him since he was 2 months.
Mayhem and Sid are both 11 months they will be 1 on October24th. Mayhem is at a good weight and Sid is dealing with Juvenile Lymphoma. Ive had them since they were 10 months old. Not very long:/
6. What diet do you currently feed your ferrets? (Please include all treats, supplements, etc) Do they already eat some form of soup?
- They used to eat MarshallFerret Food. But now Raziel, Murphy and Mayhem are now past the soupie and on their first week on Frankenprey and doing pretty well:] Sid on the other hand eats 8 in 1 Ultimate Kibble and eats duck soup. All four get ferretvite occasionally. And all four likes bandits treats but havent been too into them anymore.I recently bought a new tube of furovite for sid because he is very underweight and anemic. SId is also taking prednisone.
7. Have you ever tried to switch your ferrets to a natural diet in the past? If yes, what happened?
-Nope just this time and they are doing well so far. Sid just didnt like the soupy but im willing to try again with him. Im just stressed over his lymphoma and wondering if raw is the best thing for him.
8. What additional information about yourself or your ferrets would you like to share?
- Um... my ferrets wont litter train lol. somebody help me please. Im just picturing more seedy poop everywhere for years to come.
9. How often during the week do you have access to a computer?
-24/7 I have my smart phone with me all day and browse the internet all day. I also use my home computer like right now.
10. Please post a picture of each of your ferrets (if possible).
trying to i think i did:O
11. Have you met the requirements for this program? Do you have your scale, a place to access meats, hearts, livers, etc?
-I just went shopping yesterday and I was a little overwhelmed with my choices but im hoping I got the right stuff this is my list.
For Bone In I got: Chicken legs, Turkey Necks, Chicken Feet, Pork Butt Country Ribs?, Chicken WIngs and Chicken Necks.
For Muscle: Turkey Gizzards, and Beef Hearts
For Organs: Beef Brains.
The meat market is 3 stores down from my work so I have access to it all the time after work. I dont have a scale but can buy one today after work. I still need to get that in order to separate all my meat into baggies.
