I have to make a hare-today order next week and wanted to order some fish, mainly for the cat because she's so limited on proteins she can/will eat but she eats sardines fine so fish are a go. Hare today sells whole sardines or whole herring, plus ground whitefish or salmon, any preference on what fish is best?

Ground whitefish is awesome. I have not used it but have heard great things about it and keep meaning to get some. It is a protein that is very easy to absorb and thus extra good for IBD babies during flare ups, or any other case when the intestinal lining is damaged or inflamed or coated in excess mucous or its absorptive abilities otherwise diminished.

Oh also salmon is great. Very high in Omega 3's. And I hear herring is good too but have not tried it myself.

Thanks, yeah I bet salmon is great, that's why it's a fortune, I don't even buy salmon for myself and I love it! Maybe I'll get herring, sardines and the ground whitefish. The ferrets aren't huge on sardines but they do eat them. But the smell, omg!

I have tried fresh fish and shrimp but he shuns them all. I forget if I tried salmon thought, but her certainly did not like halibut. lol

My guys love fish - primarily salmon and tilapia (though they've had other kinds). On that thinking, I bought some of hare-today's ground stuff, along with my regular order - no one will touch it. I don't really blame them - it has this hard, spongy texture, and ugh. It's just really gross :C

Really, maybe I will pass on the ground, I don't really like feeding ground but fish is pretty light on bones anyways so figured it wouldn't hurt but don't want to get something nobody will eat. Although if nothing else the dogs will, they're like a garbage disposal.

Picked up some smelt at the grocery store today, never seen it for sale before so figured why not, I tried giving some to everybody, one dog took it and spit it out, the other dog ate his and then hers but didn't really seem to like it much, he just doesn't turn down any food offered. Kitty stared at me, I cut up one and put fish oil on it and one was gone when I checked but she didn't eat the other. Gave the ferrets two and one is gone but I'd bet it's probably just stashed. Think I will pass on ordering fish for now and that I wasted $6 on fish no one really wants to eat.

Only two of mine will eat any kind of fish, also. Lucrezia and her smelts, and Athena and her salmon. Preferably wild cohoe, of course
