Hello everyone! I was so proud today, at first! I decided to give Bella & Mia some egg yolk this morning. Mia didn't care for it much, but Bella just LOVED it!! I mixed it with a little water and at first she wasn't sure, so I put in a little bit of kibbles. Well she didn't eat the kibbles, she went crazy for the egg yolk! I was so happy as I know they are both underweight and fat is an important part of their diet. She ate both yolks!! Yes I let her eat both yolks!! She then had the runs twice and it was like the yolk came out!! I feel so bad because I know I went overboard in my excitement! She did eat quite a bit of her kibbles at her next feeding and she has normal poop now. What a scare I had!! I researched and found out that one egg yolk/week?? Thanks for listening.

Don't feel too bad, it happens. I gave my cat two whole eggs one night because my mom suggested it and I was all excited about my mom wanting to get involved. She had the runs but was fine the next day. In the future though, it's better to feed the whole egg. It's more balanced.

Eggs are ALWAYS going to give them funky poops, looser, yellow, stinky, and sometimes even a little bubbly. And 2 egg yolks is really not any more egg than 1 whole egg. As racheld said, next time give them the whole egg. I also sprinkle a little ground eggshell on it to keep the poops a little firmer.

I just give eggyolk it is uneccessary to give white---to warm it up I put the whole egg in a cup of hot tap water for a few minutes. then separate it . The yolk is full of nutrients
You want them to get the yolk, so if they eat a lot of white, then the yolk may not get consumed---just my thinking and a lot of eggwhite causes hair loss, so you need to keep that balance eggwhite/eggyolk. That is why i do not fool with the white at all. Some feed whole egg some do just yolk.
It is also messy

I beat the egg before feeding so they get both.

Please, please.....an egg is a balanced totally balanced meal if you feed it as a whole. As soon as you start separating the yolk and the white, you're destroying nature's balance. If your ferret is shedding then separate and feed a yolk to assist in disolving extra hair but to appreciate the whole benefit your ferret must consume the whole egg. You can feed 2 eggs a week any more than that over a period of time will result in a perceptible loss of fur. There was a time where the egg white was perceived as an evil entity, resulting in a biotin deficiency. One must remember that people have a tendency to feed their ferrets like themselves, so tried to feed their carnivores only the whites, this resulted in a biotin issue. The egg is a wonderful addition to your ferret's raw diet....the whole egg, not bits and pieces ciao

I've never heard about too many eggs causing fur loss, do you have more information about that?
