My kids love liver alone or hearts alone or hearts and gibblets. Today was their first beef heart/liver mix. I added some EVOO to see if it encourages Zoey, she's a little on the picky side.
Has anyone found that beef heart has an odd smell? It doesn't smell like it's bad or anything it's just odd. I'm not sure how to describe it.

Yes. It stinks! The first ones I thought were bad, but then I figured out that's just what beef heart smells like. The liver is gross too. Thank goodness Koda is allergic! ;D

I stood in the kitchen huffing to prevent myself from smelling while I chopped a whole heart into smaller pieces and put them in bags so I wouldn't have to smell it again for awhile.

Yeah his poop turned normal after they had their chicken wing meal. I too noticed the weirdo smell of beef heart. I can deal with it. Beef liver though? No thanks! I'll stick with chicken/turkey livers.

Yep, dark black, gooey deposits after a meal of heart or liver is natural. My guys get turkey hearts every night and leave me black splats on the night papers.

My fuzzbutts love their beef heart! And yes the poop is black and tarry. Sounds normal to me I feel bad for those whose kids won't eat their organs. I guess kits are just easy to please
