I was wondering, if I could attach (side by side) a FN 182 and FN 142? I wasn't sure if they would be compatible like that. Due to having 2 fairly aggressive chewer of fabric, cords, carpet, and everything else in sight I'm not able to leave my 3 ferts out to play unless I am right there (they are only allowed in my room so complete ferret chew proofing is not possible unless I remove everything) and I can't leave for even 5 minutes out of dear of blockage, I already had 1 blockage scare 1-2 weeks ago over fabric.
Anyways, due to this I'm not able to let them out AS MUCH as before, they still get out for sever al hours a day which is usually fine with my 5 and 6 yr old but definitely not okay for my 1 yr old firecracker girl that wants to play for 10 hrs straight. I have a FN 182 but my girl Marcie is separated from my other two, Caillou can't have fabric in the cage due to chewing and Marcie is new here so they don't live together yet. I was thinking of getting another FN to attach to my cage, so they would have more room to play in there plus I've always wanted to do this.
And the reason I'm curious about the 142 compatability is because they're like $100 cheaper than the 182.
Thanks!

I found that the 2 cages were not compatible to be attached together. There is enough of a gap at the top of the cage and between the floors to allow for an enterprising jill to either escape or worse get stuck. I do have my 142's attached and my 182's are attached but the two just aren't compatible to attach to each other unless someone has some interesting methods of attaching the two. ciao

We should start thinking of methods to modify it to fit... hmm.... Yeah, I got nothing. I always thought it was so cool that they could be connected, I loved all the extra room. Mine are SO difficult to supervise, I have one that chews on my blankets, my rug, my box spring, and rubber, and one that chews and eats on packing peanuts, and if you don't watch her will steal my food or try to eat candy, and also has a rubber detector built in to her nose. So when the two of them get together it's a rip apart everthing -steal food- -chew the rug- -bite the cords- -dig in the dirty litter box- -eat un-edible things- complete frenzy. And then lets not forgot the typical, push stuff off surfaces, tip over things, splash in the water bowl, bite my toes, scratch at the door, make a complete mess ferret play. They're killing me. LOL. I figured if their cage was bigger I could add in some more toys and they would have some space to play, *SAFELY*.

Mine attached with no gaps. Can't speak for anyone else's experience though.

Hm... I've seen it working and seen it not working. Not sure yet, I may be able to find a fairly cheap FN 182. My dad is like an ebay bidding freak, he'll stay up all night to win bids on stuff, so we'll see. I only paid $170 for my 182 because it was on sale during Christmas 3 years ago on Ferret.com. I didn't realize that was like $100 off.

I have done it. I made a post on here somewhere about a year ago
I have a welder and made 3 interesting brackets. They spanned the gap and mounted the two cages together.
I will get some photos when I get home.

I'm adopting (rescuing?) a wzl pair over the weekend and they have two 182s connected side by side, but I can't for the life of me find any decent pics online. I wanted to show the person who is helping me move/set up this awesome monstrosity of a cage just what they are getting themselves into...
