1. Where did you first learn about natural diets for ferrets?
from @aprildirt on instagram and from @sushi (her name here on holistic ferret forum). She has been babysitting my ferrets while I was selling my house and she started to switch them from kibble to raw! they are on the soup stage: holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/16107/kitt-bear-duke-switching-thread
2. Please describe the type of diet you would like assistance in switching your ferret(s) to. Be sure to include if you are interested in feeding whole prey (live or frozen-thawed) and if you are wanting to FULLY switch to a natural diet or PARTIALLY. If you are unsure what kind of diet you want to put your ferrets on, please express that and we can help you find the best type of natural diet for your ferret.
100% FRANKENPREY RAW DIET!!!
3. Why are you interested in switching your ferrets to a natural diet?
I just want my ferrets to live a long, happy and healthy life and I think raw is the way to go to do this!
4. Do you understand that switching your ferret to a natural diet can be a lengthy, arduous process? Its not an overnight switch. It can be a commitment of several weeks or even months. Your HF Mentor will be more then happy to assist you in switchng your ferret(s) to a natural diet, but you need to be equally as commited. If you aren't willing to tough out a potentially lengthy switching process, or if you have major life changes approaching (baby on the way, moving, starting school, getting married/divorced, etc) then it might be a better idea to wait on switching your ferret's diet until you have more time. Are you willing to make the commitment?
yes
5. How many ferrets do you currently have? What are their names? Ages? Genders? Do they have any health problems? Are they overweight? Underweight? How long have you had each ferret for?
3 ferrets: Kitt (female) Bear (male) and Duke (male)
Kitt just turned 3 in August and is healthy and weighs 900g - Ive had Kitt almost three years
Bear just turned 2 in July and is healthy weighing 1060g - Ive had Bear almost two years
Duke will be turning one in November and is a big healthy boy weighing in at 1235g - Ive had Duke since January 2014
6. What diet do you currently feed your ferrets? (Please include all treats, supplements, etc) Do they already eat some form of soup?
Right now they are on Soup (no kibble) for about a week and last week they were on Kibble at night, Soup during the day. They used to be on Marshalls when I bought them (kitt/bear) and I switched them to Wysong Epigen 90 ferret mixed with Wysong Archytypal Freeze Dried food. Duke came to me on a kitten food and almost immediately he switched to the Wysong mix. They were on this mix for a long time until they switched the Wysong formula to the dreaded watery poop stuff. From there I switched them to the Orijin Cat/Kitten mixed with the Archytypal mix. They were on this for 2 months before Sarah/Sushi started to switch them to raw. holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/16107/kitt-bear-duke-switching-thread They eat NBones on occasion and Duke likes freeze dried chicken treats
7. Have you ever tried to switch your ferrets to a natural diet in the past? If yes, what happened?
nope
8. What additional information about yourself or your ferrets would you like to share?
I love my ferrets. They each have their own personalities that are just amazing. Kitt is my princess as she's the only girl. Bear is a my cuddle bug and Duke.. well Duke is my trouble maker!
9. How often during the week do you have access to a computer?
anytime. I have my own laptop and I have internet access on my phone.
10. Please post a picture of each of your ferrets (if possible).
11. Have you met the requirements for this program? Do you have your scale, a place to access meats, hearts, livers, etc?
Yes. I have three grocery stores where I live- Zehrs, Walmart and Garden foods and two Butcher Shops! I will be getting my scale this saturday when I pick up my fuzzies from Sarah/sushis house!
