So I'm having litter box problems. I've tried several different boxes, and my one ferret doesn't want to use any of them! Is there usually a problem with ferrets sharing litterboxes? What do you guys use for your litter box? Here is a pic of the new litter box I use: See all the poop and pee outside of the box? Yeah, my other ferret won't go INSIDE the box. I'm using the potty pads too because I don't want litter going everywhere.

I use Hartz lavender scented gel filled puppy pads. As far as my ferrets are concerned the litter box is there to let them know where to go next to. Not in, but next to.
I was using normal puppy pads but ever since i discovered the gel filled ones, I have noticed it really cuts down on the smell.

That's good to know. Another thing I dislike is when they step in their pee each time they use the puppy pads.

I'm certainly not an expert on litter boxes. We have five ferrets who are free roam (Miss Keller is new and does sleep in her cage at night). We have an upstairs and a downstairs. I used Puppy pads with my first Ferret Ponce and then used them when Roamy and Juliet came home.
I put the puppy pads in the corners that they tend to use. Alot of my friends (Non Ferret friends) suggested litter boxes, so we bought litter boxes and litter. Well, the ferrets loved this. The house had dig boxes everywhere and litter was scattered around, while they went Poo next to the litter boxes.
Recently, I decided to put the puppy pads down in the corners that they use and set a litter box next to it (on the outside of the pad). I've had great success with this. They are using the pads. Someone, I don't know who, is using the litter box with the pads and the accidents have really almost disappeared. Keller is very good with the litter box in the cage, and I think some of mine are now using her litter box.
Puppy pads are expensive though, but I've been pleased lately with my small success. Of course, Knowing Ferrets means that in a short while, they will think of another way to outsmart me. (giggle)

@klaudia Yes, I've tried those but my ferrets seem lazy or they don't want to climb over the edge to use it.
I'll stick with the puppy pads, and I found some square litter boxes with grates in them and a low edge. Hopefully these work better.
