Looking for more info on live pray. I'm for sure going to to a raw diet and will be applying for a mentor soon but idk if whole or Franken diet will be best.
With live pray could you just feed a pinky mouse? With out having to guy them. Just chop them up and feed?

Pinky mice aren't nutritionally complete because they're so young--they're good for a treat but for a whole prey diet to be balanced you need to be feeding breeding age animals.

@siker do you mean live prey as it the animals are alive and running about or whole prey as in the whole animal but they are already dead?
For whole prey you just give them the whole animal, but sometimes they can be fussy and you may have to cut them up at first.
Fully mature animals are better to feed as racheld said babies aren't nutritionally complete.

I use a mixture of whole prey and frankenprey, as whole prey is quite expensive in the UK. But whole prey is much easier. As crazylady said 1 or 2 mice is likely not enough for a ferret, mine tend to eat about 3 large mice per meal, but each ferret has its own appetite and it tends to change with age and seasons. I hope this helps!

I only ask because Im thinking of what I would like to do, and if I decided to do whole, I would look into breeding my own feeders...
