I ordered a pound of whole ground mice from Hare Today and portioned it the other day. It was different from other grinds though--it was greyish instead of pink and had a stronger odor. I wasn't sure if this is normal for ground mice or if I should be concerned. Remus has eaten a bit so far (begrudgingly) and seems fine...

I'm not sure. I've never ground up my mice before, but I've cut them open when I was trying to get my cats to eat them for the first time. The bile from the liver smells horrible!

The colour is probably from the hair and guts. Mice also smell horrid. The rats and GP aren't bad when I open the bags but the mice stink.

Good to know it's normal, but a little unfortunate since Remus eats in my room! Ha
