Lately she just has not been getting along with my two boys at all. She doesn't sleep with them, doesn't share food with them, and hates it when they try to play with her. She squawks and hisses when they war dance around her before going off to do her own thing. She doesn't even like being held or cuddled, though at least she doesn't bite me anymore.
Is there such a thing as a ferret who prefers to be alone? Or am I doing something wrong? I can't help but wonder if she'd be happier with someone else where there'd be no other animals to bother her. I want to do what's best for her but I also don't want to give her up just because she has 'problems.'

About a month ago I adopted a ferret like that. She's somewhere between 1-2 yrs old, whereas my kits are about 4-5 months. The kits of course want to play with her, but she just won't have it. If they come near her, she flops onto her back and puts her paws up in the air and swats at them like a cat. If they try to play with her, she will just keep walking with a kit hanging off of her scruff.
She's never bitten, and if she's tired, she will get snuggly and let me hold her. Aside from that, she just likes to prowl around the house, sniffing and exploring. She dooks and dances by herself and she's very active so I just let her do her thing.
I've tried to get her to play with toys, and the other kids, she just won't. There are plenty of beds in the cage for them to all sleep separately in. Sometimes she will sleep near the kits, but mostly by herself. They don't NOT get along, so I haven't had a real issue with it.. yet. I keep an eye on them all, though, in case anything changes, and I try to handle her often so she gets used to it (accept my love, gosh darn you!!).

My deaf DEW's frequently go off to do their own thing. They don't play quite the same way others do, especially Willow. Although they do play and snuggle with their buddies. Have you had her in for a vet check, just to make sure everything is ok? If she's having any sort of pain, that can really alter their behaviour as well. Especially since it's recent. They are masters at hiding their pain up to the point where it's simply impossible any longer.

She's actually the youngest of the bunch and isn't deaf either. My deaf one is the one who most often tries to get her to play, oddly enough! She's always been anti-social but I guess it's more noticeable now that the two boys are all buddy-buddy and she's being left out.
I really do want to get her into the vet since I'm still worried about her abdomen feeling 'hard' (had a thread up where I was worried it was an enlarged spleen.) We're just so short on cash that a vet visit will mean we won't be able to buy any groceries that week and we need to fix our car, too.
