What age of quail is the best one to feed? 2-3 week olds seem to be a better deal price wise vs adults.
Does anyone remember any good whole prey with frankenprey switching threads?

I use 10 week old quail. my 5 will finish one off in a day. I always semi pluck but I don't think it is necessary
I would think that retired breeders would be the best price. But maybe there are fewer of them.

I honestly don't know, but I'll post it on the Mentors Boards. I wonder though, since the general feeding rule is older animals have more nutrients and chicks and baby mice pinkies) are considered treats.

I'd go with 6 week old quail as the minimum to consider them nutritionally complete (egg laying age). Rats generally are sexually mature slightly after they are weaned so I buy those as they are about the same size as adult extra large mice.
Rats Weaned: ~ 5 weeks Rats Sexual Mature: 6 to 7 weeks
But as with all whole prey, full adults are the most nutritionally complete.
