Hello there! I am glad they did so well when you were gone! I bet you had a mess...naughty little Annabelle. But I am sure they were thankful that they had the run of things while you were gone. Your menu looks good so far.
Oh and I forgot to post about the pics! I think they both look fine. It's funny, Abbey looks thinner in the dangling pic and longer, but she just be hunched a bit in the 'above' photo cause she looks much chunkier there! And Annabelle, just the opposite, chunkier in the dangling and longer and leaner in the above shot. Anyhow, they look healthy. The best description for the dangling photo is you should see a nice, long, tube. A little bit of 'pear' shape is okay too. You don't want to see too much of a waist. This is more noticeable in the 'above' pics. In your's, Annabelle looks thinner because you can see a bit of a waste in front of her back legs, but not TOO MUCH. On a thin ferret, their back legs will not even be touching their abdomen and there will be a definite waist. I can't seem to find a good pic for example... Let me know if you would like one and I can ask around and see if someone has a good one. I am sure there is something around the forum...
How are the chunks going? About what size are you able to feed now? Also, how is there activity in general?? Poops still looking ok?

Abby do u feed your ferrets turkey necks? I put some out with two very small pieces of rabbit. The turkey was the main goal.
I don't know if they r meaty enough.
Aso, I put out some frog legs this morning just to see if ferrets would taste them. abbey shook her head after getting a sniff---awful fishy smelling, she said. Trying to get some quail eggs from farms nearby--been calling around. Thought about raising quail. If you know anyone on forum who does this let me know.

I haven't fed turkey neck specifically, but I have fed chicken and duck (more similar in size) with head on the couple times I have fed it this way. I plan on trying to get some this thanksgiving if I can. But there is enough meat, even the bone is filling, just with different nutrients. I, like you, usually give something more 'meaty' along with the necks when I feed them, a leg or thigh, but I also have three to feed so it usually all gets devoured.
I myself have never tried frog legs, mostly because I can not find em, you might have to start with small pieces snuck into things they like to get them used to the taste. Mine are just not keen on fishy things though and even with intros like described earlier, they just will not eat fish or crustaceans of any kind. I think the 'fishy' smell. Maybe try putting some olive oil on them?
Quail eggs are sapost to be really good for them! I am not sure on anyone who has them, but you may make a post about it and someone in your area might pipe up.

This is really getting difficult. Everyone has loose stool. Rabbit did not have bone. Just frozen chunks, so i am going to have to thaw another rabbit and edit menu as muscle under rabbit.
so i am suppose to be feeding organ tonight
So this i know for sure-------------
1. They will eat cornish hen
2. They will eat quail
3.They will eat chicken heart
4. They will eat warm egg yolk
5. They will eat chicken gizzard
6. They will eat rabbit in small quantities
7. Chicken neck smashed
As you can see i have a lot of muscle going on.
Chicken thigh seems to give them loose stool. Because they will not eat bone as they eat meat. And the thigh is halved between them.
turkey is questionable
chicken wings questionable
I was hoping for frog because they got these nice little bones
I have added chicken neck as number 7, since I caught Annabelle eating neck this morning --that makes me feel good. will remove liver as questionable food . i think they r getting used to it. organ and liver meal plate was polished. Did not add water.

If you feel like stools are loose, skip the organ tonight and try a nice boney quail or Cornish hen. They have nice small bones and lots of poo firming calcium.
Also, about the chicken thigh. It is the healthier cut of the chicken, apposed to the breast anyhow. You can try smashing up the bone, exposing that nice cartilage will get them trying it. I know you are worried about them chocking, but unless they are starving and eat too fast, it really should not be an issue. It is hard at the beginning when their bone strength isn't to par yet, but the best you can do is keep it up until they can crunch through anything!

I did make organs and they ate it(I had them thawing already). It took a while for them to consume them. They refused quail last night. It is still sitting out this morning (thursday). This morning, I went ahead and cut a chicken neck in half and smashed it. I was very surprised to see annabelle eating it! So, good call on smashing things. I will not worry about them choking anymore. Abbey must be full on egg yolk. She has not ate her neck piece.
OH yes, I did not put water in organ mixture.
I gave annabelle a mouse yesterday in her room. I can not find hide nor hair. Will buy another and watch to see if she is stashing it or eating it.
She has bit me twice in the last two days. First time, I was squeaking a toy and she bit the fatty part of my thumb. The second time i was smashing squeaky with end of broom(being careful not to hold squeaky). Then i started sweeping---- she chased broom and nailed me on top of foot. I think i know why she was sold on craigslist for 65$, she is a biter. No wonder abbey does not do any serious playing with her. She brings the blood. Will not have to worry about mice in house.

annabelle is getting bad if she sees movement she wants to attack me. like i was just putting a sheet in bottom of cage and while i was straightening it out she went for my hands.

It's so hard at the beginning getting them to eat everything and also figuring out WHAT and HOW MUCH to feed them. I had a lot of waste unfortunately. But it will get better. I gave annabelle a mouse yesterday in her room. I can not find hide nor hair. Will buy another and watch to see if she is stashing it or eating it. I am just laughing about this now because I have read your other post, hahaha. Silly girl. Biting can be tricky, but she is old enough she should be 'past' the kit bitey stage. Just sounds like no one has worked with her poos girl. Just like anything, they have to be taught what is acceptable. Here are a few links of bite training:
holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/13307/bite-training holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/3306/bite-hold
Try some of those techniques and hopefully you can train her that mommy if friend, not food. :0)
found mouse under my bed. thank goodness it was on a cardboard box. Still chuckling to myself. My guys are not free roam, but if I feed them during their out time they will sneak in there and grab something that isn't 'tied town' by the hanging hooks and try to stash it. I can remember several times hearing my hubby yell at Pepe (which is funny because Pepe is deaf...) to drop that heart chunk or chicken leg that he is proudly parading around the living room looking for a stash spot. As soon as he sees that he is caught he takes off back towards his cage because he knows Matt with take it away. It's quite comical. I swear the ferrets do things like that when Matt is watching just to mess with him. They are perfect angels when Mommy is in charge. hehe Or maybe it just doesn't bug me the same way.... haha Now I am just careful to only put fresh meals in when it is time to go to bed.
annabelle is getting bad if she sees movement she wants to attack me. like i was just putting a sheet in bottom of cage and while i was straightening it out she went for my hands. Sounds like just play to me, but like I said before she has never been taught good ferret manners. If she's not deaf (I don't recall that she is...) verbal things can go a long way. The tone of your voice, a 'yip' that says 'ouch' stuff like that.

No she has not been taught. she grabs our fingers in a vice-grip with her front paws and tries to bite us. we r a little afraid--- dont know if she is going to give a gentle bite or not.
i dont think abbey is too fond of chicken although she used to like her thigh soupies. i hated throwing away quail but puppy swallows bones in one gulp---scary. i will give him other pieces they do not eat. went to farmers market and got 5 lb of hearts. one woman had 1 pk of quail eggs, but they were reserved.i got her address. her quail r able to fly+ take sand baths . i thought she said she raises the bugs they eat too.
