Never would I have thought I would learn so much from one tiny little bundle of fur. But from Skadi, snuggling me and giving me kisses almost up to the end, I learned that from a tiny little package can come more love than you ever thought imaginable. Even at the end, stroking his little body while the drugs took effect, he looked up at me as if to say "don't cry, Mama, Loki's waiting for me on the bridge, and you have Drakie to keep you company once I go". Fly free, little one. Mama will always love you.

A travelling candle is lit for Skadi, to guide his little paws onto their next great adventure. Your heartkey has opened the doors to a wondrous new place to play, where you're never hungry, scared or in pain. Here you will play, have adventures and meet many new friends, until that special time when once again the person who shared their heart with you will once again hold your tight. Gentle journey little one, dance on moonbeams and visit often ciao

I hope it helps that many of us know how you feel. It's just incredible how they get into our hearts and souls. DIP Skadi. You touched a heart, and that's what ferrets do best.

condolences on Skadi's passing. that was a heartfelt and beautiful showing how strong the bond between you was. May you and Drakie find solace in each other and come to a place where you r memories of Skadi are not tarnished by the pain of his going.

Thanks everyone. Your words mean a lot. I had also lost one of my kitties a week and a half previous (he snuck out when I was letting the dog out into the backyard and disappeared, no sign of him since then) so it's not easy. Funny thing is... that evening I had an email from the closest ferret rescue to me, where I've been approved for a while but was waiting for a good fit. It's sounding like two little girls are going to be joining our family sometime in the near future. We just have to wait for an opportunity for either me to drive down to get them, or their current foster may be travelling through my town on her way to vacation soon.
