Hey you guys, Here I am again starting a blog thing for little nyu. I took her to the vet between classes wensday and heres what the lady told me: 1. Her vulva isn't big so the estrogen levels wouldn't be high enough that the lupron be effective. Surgery Recomended to get rid of the adrenal glands. 2. The little tumor is a mast cell thing. Right now I'm trying to decide if I want to do surgery or just do lupron. I've never done that route with my two old adrenal boys. Should I start lupron even thought she said it wouldn't really do much for the levels since her vulva isn't big?

You can't judge the progression of the disease based on outward symptoms, for instance we had Pip on Lupron for a year and he looked great, full coat, you wouldn't know there was anything wrong with him, but he still blocked up and when surgery was done his adrenal gland was pretty big. How old is Nyu? Can you get the des implant instead?

If I relied on outward symptoms, I'm sure by now Athena would be in much worse condition that she is. Her only symptoms were behavioural. No fur loss, no vulvar swelling, nothing. But...the lupron completely turned her behaviour(timidity) around. Which means she is def. adrenal. I'd at least try 2-3 shots of lupron, see if it helps. If it doesn't, no harm done.
