Beautiful fuzz! My chocolate baby Pixie has pretty much stayed the same color. She goes through phases where she's darker and lighter. So he might stay the same

My newest resembles your baby, but she has more golden undertones. I would say he is a black sable, and my girl is a dark sable. The dark ones seem to keep their colors for the most part We will both see

I hope he keeps his color. I love darker ferrets, too!
He has the cutest little pink lips. So handsome!

what a beautiful boy he is! at over 4 months i do not believe that he will change much. only thing is his bandit mask may get smaller. i would not expect his mask to stay as full as it is right now. sometimes they have a full mask like the one you see in his pic and then during winter they have a 1/2 mask. i have had ferrets that have kept their full masks all year round though. also sometimes when they are younger their bodies look alot darker and then as they grow the undercoat starts to show more. but i don't think you'll see any drastic changes with him- he has some distinct markings. beautiful ferret though.

I'm going to bet that your little one will probably retain most of his gorgeous dark colouring. I find that my darker ones will get darker during the summer and lighter (sometimes with changes to their masks) during the winter. For the most part the colour remains the same. Thor is my darkest boy right now, the only difference is his undercoat is a deep golden colour, during the summer his guard coat is almost black. During the winter the coat is a more dark brown but the colours really don't change on the dark sables or poley colours (european term) ciao

You guys have made my day. It's funny, because I said I wouldn't get another ferret unless it was a black sable ( my dream colour). Then I saw this tiny guy at the pet store doing kamikaze leaps in his attempts to escape the tank he was in and leap into my arms.
