Finally got the courage to take out one of my frozen rabbits for the ferrets, not early enough apparently, had to let it thaw several more hours and give them some turkey in the meantime but gave it to them last night, I took out the guts for them, figured they would start there but so far looks like they are working on the head and one of the feet. Is it ok to leave it in for a day and half? I think it will take them that long to finish.

Oh too cool! That's so exciting. I've heard people leaving whole prey as long as 48 hours. They say if it has fur it's lifespan (haha that's ironic) of the meat is longer.

Depending on the temperature in the room, it can last up to 48 hours. I hope they finish it all! Goo fuzzies!!

It's probably 67 or so in there, my thermostat is set at 68-69 but there room doesn't have heat and it's cold out today! It was still partially frozen when I gave it too.

Well I took it out this afternoon, I think they had it pretty well gone by this morning but wanted to see if they would eat anymore, they left most of the fur, and the back feet but cleaned it out really good otherwise!

That's normally what most ferrets will leave. So that's fantastic

They did make a heck of a mess, but they will probably be better with some practice, I know the first few times I gave whole quail there was feathers everywhere and now they leave a neat little one piece feather chunk and clean everything else out. But very thrilled that they ate it, I've never given something so big before.

You know the rabbets that are this big?
Sorry, I'm a terrible describer, just scroll to the part whear it shows how big the rabbet is.
If you gave a ferret a whole frozen rabbet that big how long is the life span?

That thing is fast! Thanks for that vid, amazing they take down something so much bigger than them. The rabbit I fed was a little under two pound and was in there two days.

When a weasel takes down a live animal like that, they'll haul it back to their den, and feed on them for around a week, if I remember correctly.
