1. Where did you first learn about natural diets for ferrets?
I first encountered natural diets here on this forum.
2. Please describe the type of diet you would like assistance in switching your ferret(s) to. Be sure to include if you are interested in feeding whole prey (live or frozen-thawed) and if you are wanting to FULLY switch to a natural diet or PARTIALLY. If you are unsure what kind of diet you want to put your ferrets on, please express that and we can help you find the best type of natural diet for your ferret.
I'm not 100% sure, but I want the best for my little guy. I am okay with the idea of whole prey as long as frozen, not sure if I could do live.
3. Why are you interested in switching your ferrets to a natural diet?
I would like him to be happy and healthy, and being on a natural diet will provide more for him than having him on kibble.
4. Do you understand that switching your ferret to a natural diet can be a lengthy, arduous process? Its not an overnight switch. It can be a commitment of several weeks or even months. Your HF Mentor will be more then happy to assist you in switchng your ferret(s) to a natural diet, but you need to be equally as commited. If you aren't willing to tough out a potentially lengthy switching process, or if you have major life changes approaching (baby on the way, moving, starting school, getting married/divorced, etc) then it might be a better idea to wait on switching your ferret's diet until you have more time. Are you willing to make the commitment?
Yes I do, I am as committed to this as I am raising a ferret. Accepting responsibilty in him and his care throughout his entire life. He deserves the best I can offer, and even though love is great I want to learn more about getting his diet on the right track.
5. How many ferrets do you currently have? What are their names? Ages? Genders? Do they have any health problems? Are they overweight? Underweight? How long have you had each ferret for?
I have one ferret. His name is Gideon, he is 17 weeks old, he has no health problems. I have had him not even a week.
6. What diet do you currently feed your ferrets? (Please include all treats, supplements, etc) Do they already eat some form of soup?
He is on 8 in 1 Ultra blend select (which he came with) blended with marshall premium ferret diet ferretone and ferret lax
7. Have you ever tried to switch your ferrets to a natural diet in the past? If yes, what happened?
No
8. What additional information about yourself or your ferrets would you like to share?
He is my very first ferret, I got him from a lady who said he was too much for her and her family. Said that she only let him out an hour a day and her 3 year old would play too rough with him. He has been an absolute joy to have, I got him on my birthday and he immidately brought joy to my husband and my world. Before getting him I had done lots of research and as soon as she described how he was being treated I had to get him from her. When I first got him he was under weight and dehydrated. He was checked out by the vet and had to get fluids in him via iv. After a long day at the vet we were able to bring him home and he adjusted extremely well. He has been eating, drinking, and keeping me and my husband on our toes. We renamed him to symbolize his new life and chose the name Gideon because is means mighty warrior.
9. How often during the week do you have access to a computer?
As often as needed
10. Please post a picture of each of your ferrets (if possible).
No working camera at the moment will fix that soon.
11. Have you met the requirements for this program? Do you have your scale, a place to access meats, hearts, livers, etc?
Yes
