Hi, I'm Kat, and I recently, accidentally ended up with a little ferret girl who I've named Ripple (or Rip). I rescued her from someone who got two ferts without any research and discovered that they're not mini dogs. Rip's previous owner was going to turn her loose. Thankfully I caught her in time. My best guess is that she is a few months old. She has no ear tattoos. She's beginning to become more chipper now that she's eating again. When I first got her she was skin and bones. She's now eating EVO cat food, and Taste of the Wild cat food that was donated by a local pet boutique. All together my family has had nine ferrets in the past. The last one passed on about a year ago and I've had enough madness with my two dogs, a Coonhound named Holly, and a Mini Schnauzer named Dozer. I switched to raw feeding my pups a while back and figured that ferrets would do well on raw too. However, little Rip isn't too sure about it all, so I'm really looking forward to re-learning all about ferrets. My last ferrets all ate Mazuri, and all but one of them died from some form of cancer. Hopefully things will turn out a little better this time around. Here are a few pictures of Rip: Thanks so much for having me! Kat

Hi Kat, and welcome I'm SO glad you got to this little girl in time! Wow, I can't believe how people will just turn them loose expecting them to survive Please, feel free to browse, post, ask questions, etc. Check out the nutrition section, apply for a mentor for the diet switch if you like, and you can also start your own thread in the newbie question section to get a jump on switching her while waiting

What a wonderful timing, I can't wait to hear and see more of you two around here. This forum has some amazing tips on raw feeding, I'm quite new to it myself. Take care and see you around!

Thanks so much everyone!
Rip is such a sweet heart, I have no idea how she got such a wonderful temperament with her background! Still, I'm not complaining, she's helping to change my mom's opinion of ferrets. Our last ferts were crafty little hobs who happily chewed everything they could find. At first my mom, did not like having a ferret in the house again. She's really warming up to Rip though, Rip just likes to explore and hide things. So far, no destruction has occurred, hopefully it'll stay that way!
Hi candiceboggs! I'd LOVE to get the together sometime for a play day. Rip's an only ferret, I'm sure she'd be so happy to have another fert to wrestle around with! We're in Seattle, so it would be a little bit of a drive, but it would be wonderful to get together sometime!

My Teddy's an only ferret too, and he's very good-natured and sweet. I like having him as an only for now, so a play date would be really fun - especially if Hannah joins in with her trio!! Fuzzies all over the place!

I'm so glad that you were able to rescue your sweet baby! Unfortunately that happens down here a lot. Actually two of my girls were found wondering around outside one, by one of the colleges and the other on a golf course....
