I've been feeding my ferrets raw for a couple months now. I keep all the meat frozen in a tubberware container and take it out once a week and dole it out into daily servings and refreeze. Yesterday I fed my ferrets and put the container in the sink to wash and when I came back later I noticed little white seed like looking things in it. When I looked closer I found that they were moving.
So I need to know what I need to do. The rest of the meat is in my freezer. Are my ferrets going to be infested? Do they need to be dewormed? Do I n
I'm so grossed out right now I'm of the mind that I might start feeding them kibble again.
Please any advice or insight is greatly appreciated. I don't even want to touch my ferrets right now.

Where did you get the meat? How long did the container sit in the sink? Some fly larva can be laid as eggs and hatch in under 12 hrs so if you put it in the sink yesterday morning and went back to wash it the next day in the evening there could easily be baby larva in it.
That is most likely what would have happened as freezing will kill pretty much anything already in the meat. Also, if it is grocery store meat it wouldn't have that kind of stuff in it.

It was from an Asian grocery store. I buy there because they have all the "parts" lol. There wasn't any meat left in the container except for an tiny piece that got stuck to the bottom. It was only in the sink for maybe an hr at the most.

hmmm, don't really know what to suggest. I really don't know how that would happen. Especially since you froze it before hand.

If they were in there before hand, freezing would definitely have killed them. And your ferrets should be just fine. That, as disgusting as it may have been, was just an extra protein to them. Take the next container out and defrost in fridge and examine.

Do you think it was maggots? I checked all the meat this morning before I fed them and nothing was moving. Didn't see any wormlike things in there.
I hope that's what it was and not something that's going to warrant a trip to the vet :/

As Sherry said, the ferrets would just consider the wormy things food
