So, i'm in Wal-Mart, and decide to see just how bad their ferret foods are. That's when i see these: With this being Walmart, i'm not surprised exactly, but really? Wonder how many people will buy a ferret on impulse and feed them things like this. Didn't see any ingredient lists on the box, but coming straight from the company website, these treats are made with: Papaya, pineapple, raisins, bananas, yogurt drops, and 'crunchy vegetable puffs'. They also have banana raisin ferret bites. Leaving a link to their website for those that want to take a look at the ingredients themselves: www.wildharvestpets.com/Small-Animal-Products/Ferret.aspx

Hi and Welcome to the HFF (wave)
Eight years ago, when I got my first ferret, the pet store owner told me cheerios and raisins were okay. My vet said no more than two or three raisins or cheerios a week. I hope we have come a long way since then. The bad food is still out there though.
What we try to do here on the forum, is help educate new ferrants, and offer support and help to those feeding raw. If we have ferrants who feed kibble, we point them in the direction of a good quality kibble.
Do you have ferrets? If you have any questions or need help finding some info on the forum, just ask and someone will point you in the right direction. (dance)

Thanks for the welcome. I haven't adopted any ferrets of my own yet, however i'm trying to volunteer with the GCFA here in Illinois. Going to try to talk to their volunteer coordinator at Woozlefest in Lockport this year, I've been in contact with them through email a few times. Once I do adopt, although I'd love to feed raw, I'm not sure if that would be possible due to prices. Any online freeze-dried or other raw supply sites I should know of? I'd like to see what the prices for shipping and such look like, as I don't have much besides a Petco and a Petsmart within range of my house. Would like to know the best kibble choices- I've heard Wysong, among other brands. The Petco, by the way, seems like they take great care of the ferrets- Everything's clean, they have wet kibble and dry. Two kits, both sable boys, and one cinnamon girl. Felt like she was calling out to me when I went there to check out the ferts. Who knows, maybe she'll come home with me one of these days.

Ferrets can be complicated little guys, so its great that you are researching and learning. I did FDR for quite awhile, it can be expensive. Take a look at Stella and Chewy's, Natures Variety Instinct Raw and Wysong Archetypal 1. Also Whole Life has some good products. They can be ordered thru Amazon, or you can check the manufacturers websites for local pet stores that carry them. Usually, they are Holistic Pet Stores. Wag.com and 1800petsupplies will carry alot of FDR. Shipping prices will vary, I have Amazon Prime so they offer free shipping. Most sites will offer free shipping, if you buy over a certain amount. It usually is somewhere around $60. One of my ferrets is from Petco. He is a Marshall's like all Petco ferrets. He's a sweetheart. As for kibble, here is link to a kibble chart. This forum is primarily raw, but we consider Wysong Epigen 90 to be a good quality kibble. Most ferrants will mix two kibbles. That way if there is a formula change or their kibble is discontinued, their picky ferret will continue to eat. moredooks.herobo.com/search.php?chart=ferret
